(Note this is for all to read but if you are only into X and holiday season then I suggest you do not read)

As I looked at Basketcase and Carolyn together project of tree last night. I thought of a piece a friend printed and gave to me a couple of years ago. I do not know origin but goes as this:
The Original Colors of Christmas
RED - Christ's blood shed for our sins on the Cross. "the blood of Jesus Christ .....cleanseth us from sin." I Jn.1:7
White Purity of Christ - Sinless "...though your sins be scarlet, They shall be as white as snow." Isa. 1:18
Green- Eternal Life - Evergreen "...that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The Original Christmas Tree
The Bible starts (Gen.) and ends (Rev.) with an important tree. In Genesis, it is the "tree of the knowledge ofgood and evil." In Revelation, it is the "tree of Life" There is a central "Tree" that isthe most significant tree of all the times. The "Cross tree".
Galations 3:13 say; "Christ hath redeemed us from the cursse..., being made a curse for us: for it is written, "cursed is everyone who hangeth on a tree."
I Peter 2:24 says; "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness..."
Though abused and thoughtlessly used by popular culture, The Christmas Tree" may still point to the savior who truly was born to die, that we may live!

Holiday, like ...happy holidays .. or lets forget the birth of Christ . The speach police wont like me saying that .

X (the Greek letter chi) has been used as an abbreviation for "Christ" for almost 2000 years. There is no disrespect implied by it.

Nor is it disrespectful to acknowledge that other religions celebrate a holiday at this time of year (i.e. Hanukkah).

Merry Christmas highlandermom!
Don't believe the foolishness about a war on Christmas. Holiday comes from Holy Day.

I didn't like when my friend wrote Xmas until I read the same thing Sue is talking about, the Greek letter being the abbreviation for Christ. Now I understand it but still personally prefer Christmas.
