Speaking as a Mum of a special needs child, your generosity is very touching (and not often seen) Is it possible to add a little something as a gift from you instead of giving discounts?? Like a matching head band or shoulder bag for a dress, or a pocket dolly?? Lyn. xx
That is a much better plan than mine. I had to re-create a sewing pattern (normally an extra charge)that works specifically with her boys. I am not charging her for that part at all. I am only charging for the embroidery, supplies and fabric. As she plans on ordering more items in the future from me, I will try to think of something else I can do.
Thank you.
I've found that when I make "exceptions" to my pricing, word gets around and everyone wants special pricing. But I know how a special needs child is different for you. It is kind of you to want to help the family out. I often donate items for charity events. I then treat them as donations on my income tax. Perhaps doing something like that would work for you.
Every Mother wants her child to be dressed nicely and look pretty. She doesn't feel she should pay less . Her child is as worthy of the expense as every other Mother's child. Don't treat her child differently. Do ask for a picture of the child in the outfit if you have that kind of customer relationship. Tell her how nice the child looks!
I suppose it is because I know from my own personal experience that special needs children are more expensive to raise.
I do agree with you though. As she is a new customer, I will see how she feels about pictures. Thank you for your advice.
I make doll and dog clothes.I do add a little something extra for them like a pair of panties or a hair bow.Something they might like.
