with all this good advice you have to feel better soon & best of luck for dh as he does his rehab too! hugs Loralye
OH Dear Kerry, sounds like you could do with prayers for rain.
I hope your hubby heals quickly and is back on his feet again without knee pain.
As for natural remedies I take Cenovis brand Horseradish, garlic and vitamin C tablets, one every morning to ward off colds and lessen the effects of flu. If I do get a cold it usually doesn't last more than a day and never becomes a full blown cold, because I increase the tablets up to 2 or 4 a day depending how it feels.
I have been telling people about these tablets since I was told about them in 1999, because I used to get so sick with colds and flu, but since I started taking them every day, I have NEVER got so sick again. (at least up until I had the chemo)
Cenovis brand are available in supermarkets (in NSW)
Hugs n love, Meg

Keep looking UP Kerry! God is Good! I Pray for your DH as I have been on that end, only I did not have to go for rehab other than therapy 3 times a week for a while. But I stayed at home & left my DH take care of me. Hahaha! Hugs, Judy
Hope you are feeling better and all goes well with Hubby! Is water always brought in? or is this a seasonal thing?
In about 9 years it is only the second time I have had to buy it. We are not on town water and rely on rain...thanks for your thoughts
Garlic is a great antibiotic so is zinc lozengers to suck on. get well soon hugs to you! Hope things improve soon. Suzanne
I'm on a regimen of echinacea, garlic, elderberry extract,
vitamin C, zinc and magnesium.
Ginger tea, peppermint tea, lemon and honey all very good
Menthol to open up the passages and of course chicken noodle soup.
Oh yes, that is exactly what we use at home in case of colds. One more thing to add:
Please give your body and soul a good rest and have somebody to comfort you. This and the natural things are the strongest "weapon" to fight the cold
Get well soon - Maria
Lovely words from you all. Oh I am resting, the mind wants to do things but the body says NO....I better get back to the kitchen and find some of these old fashion remedies....I do preferr natural any day.
Kerry, seems like the nasty "cold viruses" choose the worst of times
to pull us down! Hang in there; hopefully it will be gone soon! Take care of yourself! Your hubby is in good hands for the next several days at rehab. Rest and drink a lot! Here's a big hug for you!! Hoping you feel well soon!
Angel
Angel, thanks you kindly. Yes I am so glad I don't have to care for hubby at present. All going well I should be over this real soon and when he returns home....
Oh Kerry i am only 1 1/2 hrs if that from you (Narangba) If it wasnt for my youngest D having a c-section for her 5th i would come and look after you. Drat those summer colds. Sorry you ran out of water. We were in your little township 3wks ago poking around, It was very dry then.. never been there all the time we were in the Sth Burnett, Lovely country style living. Probably drove past your place...... My remedy. REST .. Pauline :)
Pauline if only.....I got my water and also filtering dinking water as I type.
The guy says it is from his bore. Said you can drink it...Have been taking it pretty easy. Yes it is very dry, you should see the big cracks in the ground and deep also..anyway I guess it's just another day. So Pauline I hope you stopped off at our Bakery shop. they do the best cakes etc...one can put on weight easily there...hugs Kerry
Unfortunately a cold has to run it's course and try to avoid anything with caffeine in it as caffeine dehydrates you. Ginger is an antiviral so if you can put some in a broth or tea along with garlic it helps to clear sinuses and that stuffiness. Vitamin C should be divided up in doses about three times during the day. Being sick and having to carry water is awful. Praying that you get some delivered soon along with the filters. Lots of safe Hugs from me.
Yes I got a load of water delivered this afternoon, the dishwasher went on first..and got my filters for water jug, that is on now also. will take 4 hrs to filter through.
At least now I won't have to walk down the back for my shower either...yippee....taking in all good advice
You probably don't want an antibiotic because a cold is a virus and antibiotics won't really help. Studies have shown that people who take vitamin E are much less likely to develop a respiratory infection from a cold with vitamin E. Lots of liquid and sleep will work well too.
If your water is a problem, you might want to get a filter to run your water through to keep the "bugs" out of that. Nothing worse than getting a stomach or GI big to go with a cold!! Get well soon!!
I am usually on the go all the time, so rest is somehing I am haveing right now..Have just ordered new filters for our water distiller so I am waiting on those to arrive..I have been boiling our water lately for that very reason. thanks for the wonderful advice.
If I feel a cold coming on I RUN to the Echinacea and Vitamin C! ;)
Jerrilyn, thanks for my cyber hug, I'm with you I usually stay well clear of people with colds etc...Hopefully I can get over this weakness in a few days...
Honey has great antihistamine properties.Cone flower extract..Echinacea...take it always as a prophylactic :>)
...and Hugs and prayers for you while you are stressed:>)
Great I was given half a kilo recently it is sitting on kitchen bench. Funny how the mind will not work when it is out of order a little, thank you, Kerry
Hi Kerry, I take Horseradish, garlic and Vitamin C tablets every day to fight off the cold bug. Other than that maybe Echinacea. Good luck with all the problems you are facing. Love, prayers and a hug for you Chris
Thanks Chris, I have got garlic will take some. I am not even strong enough to take child proof cap off cough mixture...thanks for the hugs and prayers..
Oh, my! Here are a bunch of hugs for you!!!!!! Hope they help your summer cold, (and get some rest! Sounds like you NEED some!) Best wishes to your husband for a speedy recovery, as well!
