Thread cone holder.

Does anyone know of a decent device that can be fitted ontop of a machine for holding large thread cones?

Hi Baby, I just use the plastic thread stand from Joann's the top hook is taller than the machine. They cost about $6.00. The thread stand sits by the on/off switch. It does require about 4 inches to the right of the machine. No idea how to put a large cone on top. My machine could not do it.

I found a thread pin that fits atop my machine. My repair guy gave me an old metal thread stand and it came with a small cutoff cone shape that I think will fit the large thread cone, I wonder if it is available on the market, now to get the thread high enough and back down low

I got hubby to make me this "thing" because a normal thread stand was too short and the thread was rubbing on the side of my machine. I could have brought the $100 Brother stand that clips on but this works just as well. Lyn. xx

looks decent, I think i'll be getting my son to make me something. I found the cone holder that fits my machine but its like 60 quid for a little bit of plastic :-0

I have a small machine but can only buy the large thread cones locally. Found putting the cone inside a coffee mug behind the machine does the trick for me! Don't know how it works!!

Hi BabyAbyss
I had this same problem and put an old CD on top and the cone ontop of that. Works great & is cheap! Hope this helps :D

Since your space is limited, try setting the thread stand on the floor in front of the machine. Those large cones are great for saving money, but difficult to use in reality! Hugs. Nan W

thank u, some great ideas here, i was using a cone holder that i put at the side of my machine before i got my new machine. Now theres no room left on the table for the thread stand and my space is limited for a larger table. Im trying to find somekind of device that can be fitted ontop of my machine. I have tried to put it behind it and it just doest thread smooth enough.

Thanks
Tina

Try putting a plastic straw over your spool pin. Hugs, Susan

I sometimes use my serger to hold the larger spools. Works really well and have heard some put the larger spools in a glass, vase etc. behind the machine.

I agree, except when I use my cones of metallic threads, I spool from one cone stand to a second stand so that the metallic has extra space/time to dekink, so less broken threads.

I use a threadstand that I put behind the machine that I got from Outback Embroidery, holds 20 spools.
