Testing.... Fingertip hotpad. It is about 5x7.

I took a large oval from Five Star Fonts and kind of messed with the order of sewing, sewing some colors more than once. First placement, then fabric and warm and natural laid down, then stitch down then a design (words from Sew Forum) then I laid the folded fabric on the ends, then put insulbright and that silver fabric on the bottom of the hoop and did the fabric stitch down again. Trim. Then I let it do the last satin stitch edging and then I did the fabric stitch down 2 more times over the satin stitch to secure the satin stitch edge. Whew! I wish I had an oval with a wider satin stitch. I also think finishing it with bias binding would work well.

This is wonderful. My DH would love this as he eats chillies like candies.

Thanks! It worked well, I'm just not ever real thrilled with the satin edges done in the hoop. I used wash away and trimmed close but maybe not close enough!

What a great idea, thank you. I have added the picture to my "What I want to do folder" It is getting a lot of pretty good ideas. I am thinking of making stuff like this as gifts for next Christmas. It is just things you can't buy in the stores and when I receive a home made gift, I treasure it more than something store bought. Keep up the good work.
Hugs Jerri

Love the fabric and saying. Lots of steps but yours looks very nice. I've made several of these and ended up putting on the bias binding, as you I don't think the satin stitching was wide enough.

Did you do a satin stitch edge? I'm not sure I'm sold on that. Quick, but will it be sturdy?
