Stain Glass Quilts that I made awhile ago. They really brighten up the room so they have a long time out on display ,than the rest of the Xmas decorations. The photos were a bit too dark, now with the enhancement option ,they are a bit too light but you can see them better.

Now I would use applique wonder because it sticks down without ironing which means you can lift it up & reposition it if needed & becomes permanent when ironed. Also I would just cut one long piece for each side of the borders instead of sm pieces, no one knows once the binding is in place

I think this is terrific, I have been wanting to try this for some time now. Do you know if there is a u-tube or instructions on line some where?

The instructions came in the pattern. Each piece of black binding is numbered 1.to whatever ,start with 1 & continue through all the numbers until you have finished .Then machine down each side of the binding

These really turned out beautifully...did you use that iron on bias tape for the lead in the windows or is it all hand appliqued or ???

Are these embroidery or quilt squares type of stain glass?

killiecrankie by killiecrankie 14 Feb 2013

I suppose you would class it as a type of applique. All the main pieces have vylofix ironed onto to the wrong side & then piecesare ironed into place on the background fabric -design is traced onto fabric first..Being a cheap skate I made my own bias binding using a 1/4" clover bais binder maker.I bought a square of black lawn used a rotary cutter to cut bias strips, same thing with vyslofix.Made the binding the ironed on the vyslofix to the bindings back.Saved money but it took time to do.They take about 14m each

These particular quilt wall hanging designs are not ITH embroidery. The only type of machine stitch used is normal machine straight stitch

Stained glass is pretty all year round. I keep a couple things out from Christmas almost every year. If they get missed being put away I just find a way to display them and rather enjoy seeing them out.
