brilliant idea and they can be moved onto a new book when that one is full.....brilliant...x
Such lovely book covers you've made. Thanks for sharing them.:~D
Great job! Love the dandelion! We call our daughter that...she's sorta scatter brained!
The book covers look lovely Martine. I love machine embroidery on corduroy. Sarah.
Mops, I put bias around mine and use it to inclose the raw edges they turned out good, I like your bookcovers also. Love the design on the first one, but like the way the extra color is put on the with the herring bone stitch. you work always looks well done.
I notice how you did them I usually do them differently: I fold the flaps back (right of the flap facing the cover) then put a piece of lining on top of that, the size of the cover (minus flaps) , right side down, stitch top and bottom turn the thing right side out and that's it.
Nice Mops, interesting that you used corduroy as this is quite thick. I made a book cover with more thick material and than found the book did not close lol, so have to make another one some day
I learned the hard way too that that's what happens when it's too thick. For that reason I did not hem the flaps but used biastape and just got away with it.
Something for everyone. They should like your donation.
Love the simplicity and finesse of these designs; great work.
These are beautiful!! They are more and more interesting as you go. I love all of your notebooks and will be working on some myself soon. Is corduroy a good choice for fabric? The second notebook with the grapes looks like linen? Did you do the embroidery before or after you put the fabric pieces together.? I was going to try a thin layer of fusible fleece before I sew the designs. Do you think that would be too bulky?
Corduroy might be a bit to bulky, the thinner qualities are great. The less bulk in the flaps the better, I think, I have used thin fusible fleece, but only on the outside, not the flaps.
The small one was a test stitched on linen. The green is a remnant of a recycled denim shirt, that was attached afterwards. I love stitching cross stitch on linen, but you have to hoop it really carefully - the counted threads show all too easily that you did not embroider by hand.
They both look lovely. It is amazing that machine embroidery can look so much like the embroidery my grandmother did by hand.
I think so too, I'm actually amazed every time I test a design how nice it stitches and how you can only be sure it is not handmade by looking at the back.
Gorgeous work. I love danelion for it properities. Even made wine years ago with them. Also love grapes as raw eating they help kill some viruses. Amoung other properties. But you made them ever lasting here and that is the best.
Thank you. I love both as well, never made wine with dandelion, but used the flowers for 'tea'.
these are beautiful.. great job.. I really like the second one..
They are both wonderful designs, and you have made them into very pretty notebook covers.
OK i love both and i will wait till these come up for stitching out lol hugs and please keep up the great cross stitching i think you are making a lot of us happy Hugs carolyn
