Just beautiful, Loralye...if you want some lovely machine cross stitch designs...here are dozens and dozens of them that are free if you join the EMS Cross Stitch Forum...also if you haven't gotten the Antique Sampler from her main site...you should...it's beautiful! I want to sew it out, but haven't done it yet...Vermillion and ABC also have tons of beautiful cross stitch designs...
Like I said their is noting like hand made, but our machines can come close, ya, we can get more done. But its nice to have some of the hand made also.
What a lovely treasure! I remember the days, weeks, sometimes months working on cross stitch projects. Had to give it up several years ago cause my ole eyes did like those tiny xxxx. I'm happy our machines can do those for us now days...but I've yet to try a ME X-Stitch pattern. Hoping to soon.
Thanks for sharing this lovely gift.

What a lovely cushion. Your friend would have spent many hours working on this. It is a gift to really treasure. Hugs Shirley
love your cushion, I started a piece about 4 inches square years ago, and it is still unfinished...this was by hand also....
I think this is beautiful. I played with plastic canvas and embroidery by hand but cross stitch by hand I could not sit still with while younger and my over 40 eyes don't like that now. I will enjoy machine doing it for me. Thanks for sharing.
I am very impressed by how well it looks when done by machine sew that is the way for me, but I have to admit my love for it! Thanks Mary, Hugs Loralye
It is lovely.
Hand stitched the back consists of lines, going in one direction and there should never be knots. The back of machine embroidery has crosses and unless you cut the threads at the back as you go, you'll see the jumps at the back.
The better you can count the threads of the cloth you're stitching on, the more careful you have to be hooping your material absolutely straight.
But it is FAST.
Thanks Martine, I think they are quite lovely & very intricate looking. & this pillow is no exception I love it! Hugs Loralye
It is gorgeous and a very special gift. I love both types of cross stitch, I admit.
oh Lor. i just love this too you are a special friend to more then one ole gal i think :):)hugs carolyn
I usually tell by the fabric and the thread used. This pillow is stitched on cross stitch fabric where each thread goes into its own little hole. If you look closely at the threads, you can see that they are all in straight lines and not a thread is out of place. So, yes, this is hand stitched. A very lovely pillow!
