with all the information I could find I realized that the repair of this should be the least noticable as possible. Sew in keeping with that (for more infor see link) I did a blanket type stitch by hand which took all afternoon! & I used fusable on fabric as close as I could match on the overlly frayed areas, & there is some reverse applique here as well but it is was really hard to get it to sit flat sew wasn't a fan of the results. I did make the seat cover not the same fabric color but the same fabric: chintz. It is the only thing that I have? It is removable sew it they don't except it their dad can take it off & maybe if they just sit it near for a time they will get used to it & be ok with it being on their chair? I used embroidery cotton sew that it would be strong but also soft to sit upon. I hope that the girls except it ok? Autisic children really like things to be the same sew I just don't know if this will be ok or not?

You did a great job.
Frayed fabric is so difficult to work with.
I'm sure the girls will appreciate your work.

The raveled fabric is a challenge to work with and keeping in mind the girls autism you did a remarkable job on it. Something to ask the dad is to let the girls pick out new fabric for a slipcover type bag and then I would make a couple the same so one could be washed or for a backup.

I am not sure of the age of this fabric but I am guessing that it would be from the late 70's or early 80's! which would make this fabric over 30-40yrs old! It has really held up well considering!
