I can't believe all the wonderful ideas I received. It will be a while before I will get time to try these. This is such a wonderful site. Thanks!!!

I do a lot of FSL bookmarks and have found that badgemaster is excellent. It is thick enough that only one layer is needed and it is also water soluable. Marcelle

Welcome to our cute family. As for me, I have stitched them on wss and also felt and foam. When doing them on foam, just simple lines and very few stitching is best. *4U ><>

First, welcome to the site! We are so happy to have you here and are giving you flowers for showing up!You have wonderful answers, just want to caution you to pay attention to the name and/or directions on anything that looks like lace. A good digitizer will tell you it is FSL or free standing lace OR that it must be stitched out on organza or fabric. ;)

Embroidery library have instructions in their projects on many different things. It is worth a browse through their site for ideas and techniques. I've attached a link to their bookmark instructions. I often find them a good starting place even if I end up tweaking it to suit me.

The applique ones I posted a while ago were acutally on offcuts of silk from my wedding dress :) The scraps have been sitting in my stash for many years now :)

Welcome Carolee. I make tons of bookmarks and prefer to use felt for most. I am a huge reader and find felt holds up better. If the design is Free Standing Lace (FSL) then you would use a Water Soluble Stabilizer (WWS). Hoop 2-3 layers. Hope this helps.

Carolee, welcome to the 'CUTE' family - we are happy that you have joined us - with Free Standing Lace - as the bookmarks are - you do use two layers of water soluble stabilizer in your hoop - with the same thread in the top and bobbin - if your design doesn't stitch out well - with just two layers of stabilizer - it might mean that you need an extra layer - it all depends on the density of the design. Good luck and please post your projects as that is how we all receive inspiration for gifts and items for our home. Here is a flower for you - now you have 119 - *4U
