Bev, I hoop the denim and just float a thin tear away stabiliser under it. Have never had any problem with denim. Hugs Yvonne
I recommend at least floating a cut away underneath for better registration of the stitches. I don't really like tear-away as it can distort the design when you tear it away.
Denim comes in different weights. I did tear away and wished I hadn't, Now I starch and iron till stiff on prewashed fabric. It sewed up nice but if was not too dense of a design. On those really dense designs I will use tear away. With embroidery there are always variables.
Depending upon the density of the design...you can starch it a couple of times with spray starch and hoop and sew without a problem...you can also so this with linen...I know, but it does work. We had a Baby Lock instructor teach a table runner class with starched linen and we all sewed the entire design around the table runner and no one had any problems...heavy starch is the key...go figure...
Denim is a delight to sew - I always use tear a way with mine. Good luck Bev in what you are sewing. Sarah.
not sewing it yet, just an idea brewing . I bought some nice denim pieces 20x20 and am thinking up ways to use it.Then I can buy some more lol
