does anyone with a large hoop have this problem & if sew How can I get around it? If you look at the pic you can see just how close the machine edge is to the design the problem is it is sew close that I have trouble getting in there to thread it? I do not think that I have overly large hands & struggle every time I try to get in there, the more detailed the design the more thread changes & the more I scrape my knuckles? Any ideas?

Sorry, I cannot be more help to you. I have an auto-threading system on my Babylock. I also have a needle threader for my Bernina serger that I use on my other machines.
If the link works, it will show you a similar one made for your brand.

My Bernina has a special feature for moving the hoop in such an instance. I hope yours has it too. See in your instruction manual - it usually tells you what to do. Lovies.

In the notions department at Joann's I found a box of green plastic needle threaders. They are about three inches long with a large loop at one end and are flexible enough that they should work. I think there may be a dental item that is similar.

I wasn't sure where you are, but you may be able to get the dental ones in a store like Target.

Hi Loralye...I am thinking that you have the Janome 12000 (?) and I thought there was an option on the screen to move the hoop to the center position when the embroidery stopped...I believe there was one on my 11000SE...although I am not that familiar with the 12000...I do miss the quilting hoop with the magnets though...

yes there is on the 11000 but if there is on the 12000 I can't find it? no auto threader either?

On my HV, touching the needle up/down button moves the hoop towards me. Pressing it again returns the hoop back to the ready position. Or, press the color stops forward or back to get the hoop into a position that is easier to get your hand to the needle. When doing this, be sure to remember which color stop to return when restarting the embroidery project.

The magnets on your hoop look like mine from my Janome 11000 Acuhoop.. If I tell the machine which hoop I am using in the edit section my hoop will move over automatically when I need to rethread near the edge. What brand is your machine? Hope this helps.Lyn

this is the Janome 12000 I have the accufil too, how do you do this?

lilylyn by lilylyn 24 Mar 2013

HI it just does it automatically. I see that you have the 12000. Do you belong to their yahoo group? I joined it in case I update down the track. They would be able to answer your question I am sure. Good Luck, Lynx

My Bernina lets me move the hoop over when needed. Check your manuel for an option to move the hoop. ;)

Lorayle, I just noticed those plastic holders you have attached to your hoop, did they come with your machine and what are they exactly?
Inquiring minds want to know LOL

they are magnets that hold everything tightly in place instead of another hoop. they are fantastic except there is no room for me to thread?

I have this problem as well, I just use an extira long pair of twizers when I thread of do as others have mentioned and move my hoop to center position. Makes it a lot easier.

If you lower the presser foot that gives you more room around the needle.

but then your thread is to tight to thread the needle? how will this work?

rescuer by rescuer 25 Mar 2013

Pull the thread the length you need first and then lower the presser foot.

If you have a Husqvarna, go up to the hoop options ( it has a pic of a hoop on the touch button) and you'll get a list. Press either Trim or Center position and it will move the hoop to a spot where you can thread easier. Then just press current stitch to return to the right spot for the next thread color. Good luck!

I don't have a special button to send it to the middle but if it is at at a new block I find another block to send that isn't close to the edge and then go back and send the right block.

looks like a Husqvarna machine to me. I have one also but have found that if I just 'trust' my finger it'll pop that thread right where it belongs everytime, eliminating the wear and tear on your knuckles. The only other thought is a pair of serger tweezers since these are longer than most. Good luck
