I love the cubes! Ikea has some amazing variations & they really keep you organized, as well as being able to see your stuff easily. Also, shoe storage cubes work wonderful for the small stuff. I use them for FQ's. These are available at most home improvement stores (Lowe's & Home Depot). Enjoy your room ;o
Don't you just love those cubes? I put them in my son's room because his bookshelf/dresser was always a mess. I also have some in my sewing area. I have some of the canvas bins and then I folded my material in little bolts so that they act as decoration.
What an amazing difference a cube makes..I use fabric cubes that you buy folded flat in different colours this allows you to pick what is needed at a glance they can be picked up at most stores, they fit nicely and stop light and dust from touching my precious stash..Have fun with your new sewing area..huggs Marian
thanks Marian I really like this look & it is sew easy to see what I want! Husg Loralye
I really need something like this in my sewing room. At the moment all fabric is in large bins stacked up on each other in a cupboard. I do have them numbered and a list of what is in each bin, but getting them in and out of the cupboard is such a pain. Will have to talk to DH about this. Hugs Shirley
I still have a few of those too but it is just too intimidating to tackle right now ;0) hugs Loralye

well I still haven't found my purple thing & yes that is what it is called. I hope that I find it too because it came from the west coast thanks & hugs Loralye
this is full now all but one cube! easy as pie to fill up, I may change things around as I use it more but I don`t know about leaving the fabric out & not in baskets there is no direct sunlight on these units but I worry about dust & them fading. any tips on what you would do, I can use all the help I can get. The blue unit has all my fat quarters in it sew I am a fan of that.
You could get the fabric baskets in different colors (there are many colors) and use them for organizing and decorating at the same time. For example you could use lavender for pastels or all the purple fabrics. The basket would help keep the dust off and the light damage minimal. Use them like a patchwork quilt leaving every other one open.
For the dust, that lovely thick clear plastic by the yard, cut to fit the front of each cube and thumbtacked across the top. My friend Dan did his cubes in his wood workshop this way and it was neat as a pin. Engineers have the best solutions!
wow grace that is a really neat idea will have to talk to dh about it & see if he is ok with putting in the tack holes?
You can use the removable wall putty or sticky tack that holds hooks and things. Like "Command Hooks." Then you could do it yourself and not damage anything.
Suspend a pvc pipe from the ceiling on link chains the width of your area you want to cover. Then attach fabric or vinyl from the rod using shower curtain hangers. You can slide the fabric open or closed as you desire.
Looks so good and organization is such a help. Good for you!
WOW!! I can see a trip to wal -mart now for those plastic bins. This will make you very organized..NICE
