Ladies, I am hoping that you may be able to help, please. Back in March and then early April there were two free designs posted on the Daily Embroidery site. The first was 'Super Owl' and the second 'God of Thunder Owl.' Although I downloaded both of these designs in PES format, I am unable to open either design on my machine. The odd thing is that when uploaded from DVD to my computer, both designs open in my Brother PE Design Next software and transfer to the machine in the normal way. However, on activation of the file icon on the machine, I get a message "Unable to open this file." This is only happening with these two file designs. I wondered if anyone has had similar problems with these files. Many thanks.

Where are these designs from? Wanted to see if I had them or not! Thanks

Have you had any luck sorting out this problem Dennis?
As Angie has mentioned below, there is a new PES version that some machines cannot read and converting them may fix the problem.

Not as yet. I confess that I didn't know there were several versions of PES but then this is the first time that I have experienced the problem. I shall have a look at things this afternoon, once I've got my 'thinking' head on (it takes time to warm up these days). Thank you for your concern.

I've stitched out a couple of their designs in the PES format and had trouble so now I download in another format and convert. When I put the PES in a program it looks fine but when I send them to my machine it is missing something when it stitches. I didn't download either one of those designs so unable to check for you.

All 7 owls opened fine for me in PE-Design. Have you extracted/unzipped the folder that the files are in? It also contains the pdf file. Sorry you're having trouble :( xXx

Could it be that the designs are to big for the frame you have on your machine? Also if you have a conversion program try to convert them to another format and then back again to PES. There are many versions of pes files and it may be one of the latest which your machine does not recognize.
