I thought that you had just got excited and taken the picture and posted before cutting the jump stitches. As far as the bobbing thread showing through, at first, before reading some of the comments, I just thought it was varigated or something.
Keep on trying.
Congratulations on your first posting. I see you have been given lots of helpful information to devour. So glad you have chosen to come on to Cute, it's the best embroidery site in the world and there are some very wonderfully talented digitisers on here. Also some very generous women who will always offer a helping hand and give us beautiful designs. The Projects section shows off our talented sewers on here and of course the DBC (Designs by Cuties) has free designs. Love and blessings Chris, Newcastle, Australia.
Congratulations on posting your first project! I look forward to seeing more!
I'm excited for you, too. Please never be discouraged with your projects. We all have made our first design and can relate to the excitement. And we will always make mistakes..no matter how many years we embroidery. Seems those pesky little jump stitches in most designs give us the most trouble...finding them all. Every day here on Cute in Projects shown I see them in many and my own.. So just keep on stitchin' and enjoy, have fun...and be proud of your work.
As you look at everyone projects you will see there is a large range of techniques, and the care different ones take with their work...some are perfect in every way, while others are in need of attention to details, and I include myself as guilty of getting in a hurry and my work reflects it.
You will also find that digitizers are different in how their designs are constructed and thought out. You will soon have your favorites as many of us here do. Digitizing makes a huge difference on how designs stitch out and a badly digitized design can sure be frustrating even to people who have embroidered for years.
We all become frustrated at times and many days I have what I call "Bad Embroidery Day"! But a bad day embroidering beats a good day at work! LOL
Hugs and *** and welcome to Cute.
WELCOME we all have things not turn out exactly as we would like but you will find tons of helpful advise her from the Cuties.. Your doing better than me I haven't worked out how to post yet, but i'll get there one day.. Keep your chin up and don't worry about a thing..Happy sewing Marian
WELCOME TO CUTE Don't be put off by some comments. Most cuties are here to help you. I have been embroidering for years and have worked in a sewing shop as a sales person and a demonstrator and I still have this same issue as you have had with his design. Sometime atlering the top tension will help. The machine I have now is very particular with threads both bobbin and embroidery. It always pays to do a stitch out on the fabric you are going to use before starting on your project. Do not let others put you off, Shirley
Many thanks to rescuer for your stitch outs. Hope these will help IamGammie. Shirley
I posted several test stitch-outs in Projects. I had many pictures to show. I think it would be good for you to get your machine serviced or perhaps you need to use better bobbin thread?
I added the link to my post.
Good luck in the future with your stitching. I am sure with the help of all the Cuties you will get better results for all the designs you stitch-out.
I am proud of you for stitching out a project and posting it too. Keep on stitching. You will get better and better with practice just like the rest of us. And those of us who have been embroidering for years still manage to make mistakes.
Thank you Bev, Hope your resting in the hospital ward and fingers crossed for good results X
My apologies Gammie, its just hit Vodka time in the UK, so I have got my cotton ready and white bobbin thread for a test stitch out for you tomorrow to compare. I adore your qoute " As far as future postings, I did not get this old with a thin skin" :D
Hello Gammie, Please dont be put off from posting your further projects, I stitched the design out for you to see my one to see if it helps. I stitched on felt using solid blue cotton (same for the bobbin). Tension 1
Best wishes Jussy
PS WELCOME to Cute :)
Thank you for the picture. You used felt, not cotton fabric and used the same color bobbin thread? Why did you have to do that? Is it a standard that all stitchouts have to have the same color bobbin thread to prevent seeing bobbin stitches? Although your stitch out solves the problem, it will be difficult to make a quilt out of felt. As far as future postings, I did not get this old with a thin skin. THANK YOU for taking the time to stitch this design and trying to help me.
Don't be put off by the comments! We all started with trying and lots of errors. I think your tension is off! When I started I had the same problem and I did not know what the problem was, so I started to use the same colour bobbin thread for everything ( You can imagine I had over a hundred bobbins!) After a check up of my machine it worked much better!
I am very pleased that you have showed us your project! and keep on going! Looking forward to see your next!
Although some of the comments made were a bit harsh, I think that they may have been given in a spirit of comraderie to protect the person who put the design in Designs by Cuties. We don't usually post photos except in the very best light that we possibly can, so perhaps if you had trimmed your jump stitches, it would have been "prettier". There is a photo of an actual stitchout somewhere in projects. I'm glad that you have posted and hope that you will take all suggestions as others trying to be helpful and aid you in making your designs the best that they can be. May I suggest that you use a medium to heavy cut away next time on this type of fabric. Tear away seems to let the bobbin come up through the top. Or if the tear away is all that you have on hand, maybe use 2 thicknesses. ;)
Yes the comments are harsh but I have posted all the pictures that have been asked for and no the design has not been altered as questioned. Thank you for the suggestion of using a different backing the next time, but it looks like Noah has the same problem. The bobbin thread is showing in her stitchout too. I will try to post better the next time as this was my first time and I was excited. I hope another cutie will stitch this design so we can see if they too have a bobbin thread issue.
Noah, did you use variegated thread? There are white stitches in between the blue ones.
Here is the front side of this design ,and the way it is too look!!
Mine has a wonder bag of smell in it .
Sorry your machine sews so badly Grammie maybe u need to try it again ??hugs Carolyn
It this the same design???
Wow! It looks like a completely different design! It is the same shape...I wonder if the design she used has been altered or re-sized???
I see you too have bobbin thread pulling up or did you use variegated thread? There seems to be white spaces in your stitchout too. Since you and I have stitched this design, maybe another Cutie will come along and try it and we can see more projects. I have a Janome PR-650 and have never had a problem with it.
No i think shes showing the back side??Not sure but thats what it looks like to me hugs
The design has not been altered, and maybe if you have a minute rescuer, you could stitch it too and let me know how you stitched it and advise me on how to fix it.
I have had very little time to do more than my customer requests. I will see what I can do.
It looks like you used variegated thread on your project. Can you tell us more about your project? We always like to know more about projects -- things like where you got the design and what you will do with it. Because you only have one picture, is it part of a larger project or a decoration on a favorite item?
Welcome to Cute and congratulations on your first post to Projects!
I used isacord red thread and it might be the bobbin thread is pulling up. The design is from Cute and I am hoping to use the design in my quilt.
This is the front side. I am hoping to use it as part of my new quilting project. I am not sure why you are asking "Could you have made it look any worse." Maybe another Cutie will stitch it and give me some advise as you feel I am doing something wrong.
It looks like you did not trim your jump-stitches. Some embroidery designs require you to trim between stops. Others you just trim at the end of the design.
If you used variegated thread, this design works better with a solid color. If you didn't use a variegated thread and the white is your bobbin thread then your tension is off or your machine needs a thinner bobbin thread.
The design looks great when you use the right threads and your machine is set up right.
Beginners can get a lot of help from Cute members.
Let me go trim the jump stitches, there are quite a few over 27 will post a new picture after they are cut.
