I was asked by a new Cutie (she is having trouble with stitches showing bobbin) to post my version of a design found for free in the DBC. The DBC is now closed. I did several stitch-outs. All of them on "fabric of unknown origin" form WalMart. It is stretchy, horrid fabric and I did not even press it with an iron before I began.

I intentionally used the worst thread combinations combined with the worst fabric I could think of as I stitched it out with Black top thread and white bobbin thread. Then, because you cannot really see the white bobbin versus the white fabric, I used Black bobbin with Pink top thread on a design I enlarged (some say never re-size this type of design) so you could easily see any and all possible errors that were part of the design. I DID use cut away stabilizer on all the stitch-outs and I trimmed the jumps (I stopped the machine at the end of the first go round but did not remove the hoop) but they were easy to trim.
I did stitch the design with pink top thread and white bottom thread (the way I would do it for a customer) and it turned out so well -- I am going to put it on a purse to encircle the button.
I am posting pictures but as I hate posting subpar stitch-outs -- I will post the good stitch-out first. The black stitch-out was not resized and I am posting the back (uncut) for both "bad" stitch-outs. My camera is 8 megapixels so you can enlarge it. I tried to do a very close shot of the black bobbin bits you can kind of see??? However, the pictures turned out fuzzy.
Please tell me what you think I could use this great design on – I need ideas! I have had too much trouble with similar style designs from other sources to bother with this style before now. This design has changed my mind! I am so glad I was challenged to stitch it out! Thank you to the new Cutie! As soon as I have more money for designs, I will be shopping for more from this designer.

Looks like a scarf end to me if you have more white fabric. Bookbag? Purse?

I like these ideas! A scarf end sounds interesting. I just might try that when I get more time.

Apr 13, 2013 - Thank you Rescuer for all the work (or fun ?) you did on this design for our new Cutie. I like all the color variations you tried and am impressed that the not-so-good fabric came out well too. Also I like Noah's denim designs. And the varigated thread looks terrific! Can't wait to try the design myself! (And Noah, and all Cuties, what are we to do with all the stitchouts? Too nice to not use on something).

Thank you.
The denim designs are mine too. ;) We just get playing online and it gets really confusing sometimes. lol
I did the denim stitch-outs to see how well they will work for a purse or bag for my DIL.
I may have to make a small quilt out of the rest of the designs I made so far. lol

OK so I am just having fun now! Here are more pictures. The denim I just let it stitch-out completely before I clipped the threads. I think I might use a different color green when I stitch it for my purse. My DIL wanted the turquoise color.
I used variegated thread on the white "fabric of unknown origin" and decided -- I like it! It looks so playful, I might put it on a baby bib in this variegated thread color.

Thank you so much for all the free designs you give to us! I love this site!
I am messing around with the design -- using different threads and fabrics. It is one of those designs that is fun to watch while it stitches!

Vicki's designs are the most fun to watch stitch out! they are all so beautiful as well!

Thanks.
I used cut away stabilizer that tears off in sheets. I am not sure the name of it I have had it a LONG time. I hooped both the fabric and stabilizer.

Looks great and I have yet to try but I know Vicki does great stuff. Glad you shared your color choice. I know I have to tell myself to watch fabric and stablizer I get in hurry sometimes and it shows. Then I get mad at myself.

Oops, I forgot to add that I did not use top stabilizer on any of the stitch-outs. They turned out great anyway without any tugging spots on the stretchy fabric. It must be the way it was digitized. I have never done this type of digitizing -- but I am sure the way it stitched prevented the pulling and distortion like you might find in some other designs.
Thanks again IamGammie for encouraging me to try this design!
Vicki (basketkase) has always been a great designer and she still takes time to give us free designs. Thanks Vicki!
