Do you use WSS on top and bottom of terry for the embossed designs? I know some of you have done it and I can't remember what was said, it was a while back. Might be good for the new folks also.

I did the naked lady on the tub and the two little bratty boys on the pot on towels for my guest bathroom and used wss top and bottom, single layer each and it came out great. Have to admit it was the first towel I've done but came out great.

Hi Clawton, I use Magna hoop with wss on top . The magna hoop holds towel tight. ( before I used sticky on back and wss on top. ) Either way I never hoop a towel because of the marks A flower for you.

I don't have a magna hoop so I guess I'll try one with WSS on top and bottom and one with Tear-A-Way to see which I like the best.

Carolyn, I think it is what you get used to - I like to use two layer of the WSS that looks like plastic on my towels - it you use the tear away on the bottom - it is going to give you the white paper look on your underside of your towel - also use the same color thread in the bobbin and top as your towel - to get the real embossed look. Have fun and enjoy working with embossed designs. *4U

Don't know why I didn't think of them before. I certain have gotten many other directions from them. Thanks

This was very interesting reading. Looks like cut a way should be the best but how do you cut it way and not clip the terry loops or see the stablizer?

I only use wss on top when I do towels with a firm tear away on back. Have never had any problems with this. *4U

Looks like I will have to try both ways. It is about half and half here. Thanks

I use tear-a-way on the bottom and WSS(water soluable stabilizer)on the top to keep the stitches from being buried into the loops. I have found that if I use a spray starch first and iron the loops in the direction that they normally lay, I get a REALLY nice design after it is laundered. Normally the bottom goes in one direction and the top the other. Everyone isn't as picky as I am, though or as Anal retentive!;)

Looks like I will have to try both methods since it is about even as to how people do it. Thanks. I'm use to nap in fabric but never gave it a thought when working with towels. When doing the embossed that may very well help the appearance. THANKS

clawton, I used wss on top and bottom. I lightly sprayed with "Quilt Basting Spray". Works great for me.

I have one listed in projects

Looks like I'm trying both methods since it is split on how people do it. I have temporary spray so I gues that should work. Thanks
