I like small cureved applique scissors, I just saw a pair that had the applique handle and the curve. I think they might be fiskars. Those would be the best in my opinion. Yes left handed is probably different. I would check their website.
Is it better to have a separate pair of scissors for applique and jump stitches?
There are special scissors for those who are left handed. Right handers cannot cut well with left handed scissors as left handers can't cut as well with right handed scissors. I used to sell fabrics and notions and I could not cut with the left handed scissors at all. Be sure and check out any scissors for this.

When I finally invested in a pair of left-handed shears I was so used to looking over the scissors to cut that it is still somewhat entertaining trying to remember I don't need to anymore!
These are my favourite pairs of scissors that I use constantly for all my thread trimming. I do a lot of Applique (click on my Avatar name and you will see some of the Appliques I do in the PROJECTS tab) and just couldn't do without them. Love and blessings Chris
P.S. I notice I haven't welcomed you to Cute before, so then a big Aussie welcome from me.
Forgot to mention the pair on the left are my all time FAVOURITE - they have a curved end and are by CANARY. The other pair are FISKARS and are great too.
I love my Fiskars snips, very sharp and handy. Just got a new one at Joanns on sale,

Does the spring make it easier to use? I have a pair of the 3.5inch curved Westcott scissors and they are such a pain.
the spring helps keep your hands from getting tired when you have a lot to cut
I love little snips. They grab the jump stitches well and cut very close.

I wondered about these. Do they feel like tweezers? How easy are they to use?
