If you have a long magnet, like they use on cars when they drop a bolt,
it works very well. I have a recling chair that eats thing and it comes in handy.
I have also had to search the rubbish bin, mostly for customers phone number that I scribble on a notepad then tear off the sheets I think I don't need and throw them all away. I have also upended my bin for the bottom of embroidery hoops. fortunately I have a mini wheelie bin in my studio so it only has stabilizer and garment packages in it and nothing gross.
oh I am glad you and your inseperatable friend were united once again.
Hey everybody!!! After throwing away not one but TWO USB sticks in one month, I went to the two trash cans system. I keep an old enamel pan in the top of my trash can to toss in threads and tearaway. Every so often, I "feel" around for fallen USB, tweezers, and scissors. Only then can I dump it into the trash can below! It works. I've stopped losing things. Okay... well... at my machine... I'm going to have to get a clapper for my keys!
Not only have I searched the trash many times for important things, I have done it in a hurry to be one step ahead of the garbage collector!
lol --- Been through the trash before hunting for stuff. I put plastic suction cups on my machine for the items I use a lot so they have a home now. Also, I go through my sewing trash before I toss it out. It is always a relief to find the missing item.
Oh Sue, I am the WORST at losing something I've just had in my hands! a piece a fabric I have just cut out.... the scissors I have just been using for cutting.... a pattern I have just used (often still attached)... I drive myself CRAZY! I have finally decided it isn't easy being me! Hugs, Jan
Well Sue I am thinking about this one BUT I have attached my thingy for my PR machine and a small screwdriver to the machine with a long thread as each have been 'missing in action' more than once. I have a duplicate of each too - just in case. Good thing you still had the bag of rubbish to go through, knowing my luck it would be the day following the bin collection that I realised something was missing. I did chuck a beautiful new pair of kitchen scissors once and as I had taken the bag to the tip I never saw them again.
Actually each every item I use with my project. I thought I was infamous for constantly having to search for tweezers, scissors, hoop even fabric. Yes, I am one who will put something down and then move away without thinking about it. I am sorry you had to search but very happy you were reunited with your treasured forceps.
I have been separated from my forceps for more than a month. I think my husband may have borrowed them...it would be easier to search through rubbish bins than to track something down after he has "set them down someplace" lol
You have renewed my hope that I may -- yet find them.
Errrrrr..................just a little bit too much man-bashing going on here..................lol
I have a pair of applique scissors that I would go through OTHER peoples rubbish to be reunited with - they are my constant companion while sewing. (and hidden when I am not so that the boys in the house don't use them for something else!)
I gave not been able to find mine (hemostats) in over a year. I have so many pairs of worthless tweezers. I just ordered another set of "precision tweezers" hope they work. I need forceps!
Phewww...that was a close call! Reunited and it feels so good!
