I need to ask for prayers for my sister, Sandy. Her husband passed away at home under the care of hospice Saturday morning between 2:30 and 6 am. A week ago he had trouble breathing so he went to the er by ambulance. They found cancer in his lungs, liver and pancreas. He was down to 115 lbs and was too weak to handle any treatment. They sent him home last Monday under the care of my sister and Hospice. We couldn't get up there till thursday. It's a six hour drive for us. After arriving Thursday eve, I called her and she asked us to come over the next day. He (Roger) was asleep on the couch where he'd been since arriving home from the hospital. When he saw us, (specially Maurice) his whole face lit up and he asked me to pull him up. He sat up for several hours talking and joking with us and even ate 3 quarters of a sandwich ( more than he had eaten in the prior week). He started to fall asleep sitting up but refused to lie back down. Finally my sister and I talked him into laying down. He never got up again. My heart tells me he was waiting for us to get there so we could say our goodbyes. He wanted no funeral and to be cremated and his ashes spread in the woods out back of their home. My sister abided by those wishes. His loss is weighing heavily on her and if you can find a moment to say a prayer for her I'd appreciate it. He was a wonderful man and more like a real brother to both Maurice and I. Our hearts are heavy too but he is no longer in pain and I'm very grateful we got to see him one last time. Thank you for taking the time to read this long post.We really miss him.

I will pray for your sister and you and your husband. A blessing to be with him at the end, but tough. I'm glad he had that. And I'm glad that she had a small chance to say goodbye, which, if I recall my old English is God-be-with-ye.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Last Thursday, I lost my sister to cancer, she had been fighting it since 2007 this time. I miss her but know that she is no longer in pain or sick from the treatments. Sad as it is to say, sometime it is a release for your brother in law and my sister. They will always be with us in memory and some sweet day we will see them again. Love and hugs, Maxine

Meri, I believe that many people wait to say goodbye. It is their last gift to you. How blessed you and your husband are that he cared so deeply for you. I will pray for your sister in her loss and heartbreak and for all of the family, especially you.

Oh my dear, what a heart-wrenching time for all. On the other hand, how fortunate your sister, you and your DH had that wonderful time talking and connecting with Rodger in his last hours. May you always look back on that special time with a smile. It was truely a blessing that he was fully aware of you all and could communicate. May his beautiful soul rest in peace. I pray your sister will receive strength and warmth from our Father in Heaven. God be with you all at this time.
