I join you in celebrating the lives spared and the sorrow over those lost. This is, was, and has been another devastation to that part of our country. May God go before all of the workers who are going in to rebuild and help pick up the lives of those who have lost loved ones.
Thank you for your comments Cuties, heres an update from my sister,
Just had the best 2 hr phone call from Gina... Eddie is out with his fellow CG men and women volunteering around the area.. Bless them for all their help!
Gina told me all she knew, saw and how her heart hurt for all those who are suffering... Homes have signs on front saying things like "Lunch at 2pm".. the people of Oklahoma are just wonderful. They are helping anyone in need and paying it forward!
My grandsons went out last evening (age 9-6-5) and picked up trash in front of homes... I'm so proud of them! Photos to come if her cell service stays up and running..... Water is on today but still can't drink it,, no electric yet but they are doing just fine. Thank you is all my heart keeps saying...."
She also says that her daughter is spending nights with a girlfriend because they do not have electricity but spending days in her home. It's such a great idea to have her boys go out and help so they can learn community service at an early age. When she gets her electricity back and is home she wants to put up a sign to offer diapers and anything else she can manage, I suggested to my sister that she have a sign, "Need coffee" which would be great for all the helpers roaming the streets.
Just heartbreaking! Thank God for your daughter and family safety!!! Praying for those less fortunate!!!
Most of the donation info I get on the news is drop off locations for us locals. The news stations are asking if you are not local to donate through the American Red Cross or Salvation Army, you can text STORM to 80888 to make a $10 donation. The money will go to providing meals, drinks and household cleanup kits for those affected because they are coordinating the relief efforts. Beware of anyone calling asking for donations and NEVER give out credit card info over the phone.
It was with some relief watching the news here in the UK this morning, to learn that the loss of life is less than originally reported. That said, it is no consolation to the families and friends of the 24 souls who did not make it through this devastating tornado. I also understand that lives were lost in another tornado north of Oklahoma.
The devastation has, of course, imposed an almost intolerable burdon upon a very large proportion of the population and will take significant effort from all quarters to help in re-building lives. I have experienced the aftermath of numerous disasters, such as earthquakes and the like in a rescue/recovery role, and would urge people to give what they can, whether this be through financial donation or personal prayer. However, as Kylasm has said, beware of scams before donating your hard-earned money. If anyone in or near Oklahoma knows of the secure donation detail, perhaps it would be permissable to post this information. Stay safe everyone.
I'm in Tulsa,Oklahoma and this is on the news and radio here constantly. We are in the middle of storms here too, concern for a possible tornado, so we are on "alert" for any weather changes. My grandma lived through a tornado but lost her house a few years before I was born. We are raised to be ready for this but the devastation is sickening. People in Moore need so much help it's hard to imagine where they will start. Please donate and help anyway you can, beware of scams, The Red Cross is a great way to make sure the help gets to those who need it.
Terrible situation for all those affected, my heart goes out to them. It's going to take a long time to get back to normal again. Thank goodness ewe don't experience tornado's like this in South Africa. Glad your sister and family are ok.
I spent yesterday praying too. I have a broher in the OC area. Praise God, so far he is OK.
What devistation! I can not even begin to imagine how horrible it is for everyone there. My heart and prayers go out to all.
It was very sad to see the news on Sky of the human and material devastation caused by this massive tornado. If the news is correct, there have been some 91 souls lost including 20 or so children and the expectation is that this number may rise. My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones and for the injured. Of course, the loss of homes, personal effects, businesses and the severe damage to the community infrastructure will impact upon so many more people. My thoughts are also with members of the emergency services, that they are given the strength to undertake their harrowing duty.
Gee! Mother nature is at it again. Prayers for all who have been affected by this dreadful Tornado. I do hope all the SES workers are getting enough relief. We very rarely get Tornadoes here in Australia, but we have seen the devastation that has been caused by the ones in Oklahoma City and other parts of America. My heart goes out to all who have lost loved ones, their homes, their communities and friends. Love and blessings Chris
Good to hear that they are safe & well. So much devastation it's hard to believe.
Sending prayers for all who are experiencing this......
I heard mention of this, We had the weather channel on about 1 pm and they said there was a tornado heading toward OK city. Then mention on DWTS, This is awful. Prayers to all those affected by these storms. I am happy your family is OK.
