This is another gift for my sister's birthday. I got this design at Stitch Delight for $!. What a deal. It stitched out perfectly and went together just as easily. I had trouble with my fabric in the middle though. I prewashed it but it still wanted to stretch after I sewed it in place. Any suggestions Cuties? What kind of fabric is best for this application? Thanks for your suggestions, Susan

It's beautiful! It may not be anything you did, it may just be the rounded design pull and when you added steam it "let go". I always use a pressing cloth on these and I don't iron- I press. I also have the fabric so crisp with starch (not spray on for this type- liquid) I'm afraid it will crack. ;)

Oh that is a good idea. I usually do starch the fabric guess I was in a hurry to get this done and get it into the mail. I am going write "Wash & Starch"right on my design sheet so I don't forget again. Thanks, Susan

Thank you Jerrilyn! Washing it with liquid starch is a great idea! I will have to be sure mine is ready-to-crack before I stitch one of these. You always have great ideas!
Thank you Susan for posting this and letting us know where to find the treasures. If I make one -- I hope it turns out as lovely as yours!

Wowzer! Beautiful! I think cotton or linen on the fabric is the best you can do. Looks perfect!

Very lovely!
Perhaps a small embroidery in the middle will hide the pull?
Steam press before you begin and starch it to death...
I do like Carolyn's idea. I may have to try that.
Have you washed it again since you finished it? I wonder if the steam iron created a temporary pucker??
Please let us know how you fixed it. It really is beautiful!

I did not fix it. I mailed what you saw in the picture. I figure she will set something in the middle of it anyway and that will hide the minor pucker. I just strive for perfection and was disappointed that my fabric did this. Next time I am going to wash it and starch it super stiff before I begin assembly. Hugs, Susan

I too wish my projects could turn out perfect. I should tell you, I would be thrilled to receive one just exactly like it -- so I am certain she will love it and find it absolutely, perfectly wonderful!

Did you stay stitch just inside of the center before stitching the lace?

Yes, I did. It didn't stretch until I used my steam irom for a final touch up. Doesn't make any sense.

Oh my!!!!! This is lovely!!!!! Your sister is absolutely going to love this !!!!! Looks like it stitched out perfectly for you. Great job assembling it,too.

Can this design be used to make a larger doily as well, or does it only go together in one size? Thanks so much for sharing!

This doily is about 11 inches in diameter. It can only be done in the size, but there are 2 other designs in the set that I believe will work up a bit smaller. Thanks, Susan
