there is a futura group on yahoo
go and read the posts about the many problems these machines have and judge for yourself.
personely i would not touch one but save my money to get something better
The name Singer was sold years ago and these folks are not those folks. The positive review I read here is the first positive I have ever heard about Singer embroidery machines, but I've met several people who have ditched a new Singer emb. machine and spent the money (again) to change brands. There is a lot of misery out there caused by Singer. Do not, do not, buy online. When you buy from a store, you are building a relationship with a local repairman! If there is a problem with your machine, he/she will make it good again. How happy is he/she going to be to see your online machine?
I have a Singer Futura 250. I have had it since 2008 and I "ran the legs right off of it" so to speak. It did have quite a learning curve (read the manual) and I have had to replace the bobbin case 3 times during that time. I stitched so much on it that this last Christmas the tensioner rod broke and popped out of the machine. It has been fixed but is now my back-up machine as I put too many miles on it. The dealer where I bought my Esante would not take it as a trade saying it was "worthless" but it served me well for many years and a LOT more use than they are designed to take. Make sure you get it from someplace that will allow you to return it as the machines seem to be good or bad right out of the box. Also try to get them to include the entire software package for your machine.
Good luck! I hope some good news about the model you have asked about is posted soon.
I have the Singer Futura Quartet....when I first got it I thought it was like any other machine....just jumped in and sewed....so when it didn't I thought they were like lemons....but decided since I paid so much for it and really wanted the software and the 5x10 hoop I deceided to see if it was me or the machine and slowed myself down....read the books ask questions and now I love this machine so much. I think others are looking for easy and don't want to take the time to learn....I did and would not lose it for love or money. Oh and I did have to contact the company regarding the bobbin holder...it was cracked and that was what was wrong with the machine. Not the machine you ask about but had to tell you my results since everyone is bad mouthing the singer when maybe if we take time to understand the machine it will work for us.
forgot I ordered mine from ebay also.....and it is great here in Central Florida also....have a wonderful day.
Hugs Joann
May 24, 2013 -- I have had (and discarded) two Singer futura's, the 150 and th3 250. I had nothing but trouble -- wish I had used that money as a downpayment on the Pfaff Creative Performance I now use. I bought the singer because of the brand reputation, but that did not pan out for me in the ones I had. I hope others had better luck ..
Your dealer was trying to gouge you on that price!! I bought my PE770 4 years ago brand new from Overstock.com for around $750.00.
Muffy :)
