My name is Angie and I am not a new Cute either. I think I joined sometime in 2008 when I had purchased a used machine with no help built in. Reading posts is so helpful!!! Thanks all Cuties.
I have 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild with the second one ready to be born next month.
I live in the Sacramento area in sunny California. 2 hours away from San Francisco and the ocean and 2 hours away from the mountains and snow in the winter. I love all crafts and lately got into quilting in more detail. I owned a yarn shop for 12 years and worked as a bookkeeper for a private school for many years. Now I am retired and love every minute of it. Still don't have enough time for everything I wan to do.
Nice to meet all of you.
I am sure that when you retire a few hours of each day is taken away from you. OR do we get slower as we age??
Hi! Everyone i'm Marian another Aussie. I live in Wetherill Park about 45min west of Sydeny(mind the travel time depends who's driving). I'm house bound due to health but love to visit here to see what everyones up to..
You can always get so much help and information from everyone here. Great site.
Good Afternoon Cuties, I live in the USA, in the State of Alabama, in the southern most rural part of Montgomery County. I have 2 children and 3 grandsons, a husband, and a DIL When school begins in the fall I will be the oldest teacher on faculty where I teach, and several of the students already refer to me as Grandma. I have been one of the Cuties for 2 1/2 years. After chemo and radiation for breast cancer I decided that I wanted to prove that I could still learn something new so I bought an embroidery machine. It has been a long struggle. But, with the help of the Cuties sometimes I'm able to make something presentable. Regards to all, Stella
Hi everyone, My name is Lyn also. I live in Aus about 100k south of Sydney in the beautiful Southern Highlands at a place named Bowral (home of Bradman museum). I have 3 girls and 1 boy. Eldest daughter has 2 children and they have all just come to live with us whilst they save some money for a home. Not much sewing being done now (darn!!!) but still keep up with my Cuties site. Been sewing all my life and found machine embroidery 13 years ago. First machine was a Janome 9000. Now have 11000SE . Love to all, Lynx
Hi there Cuties. I am from Malmesbury, Western Cape, South Africa. Been a Cutie for about 4 years and enjoy ME. That is when I have enough time to be at the machine long enough. My hubby has just retired and now my work starts, haha, love Shirl*
Hi All, I am just outside of Orlando Florida - not a Florida native but have been here for 28 years. I am originally from Central Oregon and still have family there. I am not new to the site but have gone back to work full time so I don't spend as much time on the computer as I would like. I have been sewing for nearly 50 years and love machine embroidery. - Aileen
Sometimes think I would love to go back to work but I know I wouldn't last long.
I don't remember when I signed up , jrob was before me. We both live in Georgia but a couple of hours apart. Some day we may meet at the Quilt & sew Expo in Gwinnett county, a biggy event. Lillian is in Alabama and has close family 30 minutes from me, but we have never meet. Linda Flanders is more than an hour away south of me and we have never meet. It is still a small word!! Some day , we will meet!!
Wouldn't it be great if we were all rich and could meet somewhere in the world
Lyn, I'm so glad that you brought this back up. It does help us to remember and also to get to know the new folks. I can't remember the date I first signed up. There used to be a place where you could go and see but it's been gone a long time now. I did see that my first post was on 29 June 2007, but I remember skulking in the background for quite awhile before I started yapping. I am from Northwest Georgia just a bit west of the beginning of the Appalachian trail. I have hiked small parts of the trail, but have past the time/age/strength that I will hike the full -approximately 2,200 miles (3,500 km). My state is next to Alabama and you know some of the Cuties from there, too. Oh, my name is Jerrilyn, I am 5'7 1/2" and I weigh.......TMI
I love to know where everyone is from but there seem to be a lot missing from what I remember.
Hi, all you new Cuties! I am an OLD cutie, (take that to mean "age", as well! LOL As Jerrilyn so conveniently posted the state of Georgia, I chose to respond at this link! I live near Macon, GA, the center of the state, in a small rural community, but convenient to major shopping areas. I have been sewing and doing other crafts most of my life; machine embroidering for about ten years. I am retired and the mother of three grown daughters, the oldest seen in my avatar with me, has Downs Syndrone. She keeps me busy with her Special Olympic activities, as to being the chauffeur and "cheerleader"! I try to slow down long enough to get in my sewing room to stitch occasionally! It's also my therapy room for "ME" time, and I don't exactly mean machine embroidery, either! LOL I have a 16 year old gs, who's on his high school golf team, and an 18 year old gd (who just graduated from high school last week)! My, how time flies by so quickly! Happy stitching to you ALL!
Hugs, Angel
Well, I've been a Cute member since early in 2007. The finest site on the Internet and the dearest friends i've ever known & loved. I am a retired RN and my hubby is disabled. Not able to be on as much as i have in the past because of health reasons but still do as much as I can. Gallant,Al. USA is my home now but was born and raised in Ga. & guess i will always be a Ga. girl at heart. I am only 30 miles NE of Birmingham. Al/Lillian
Hi, another aussie here. I am in Lara, Victoria. (near Geelong). I am married almost 20 yrs, have 3 children Adam 18, Kane 16 and Hali 12. Have been embroidering since 2005.
Hello CUTE family - I am not new to this group - been here for longer than I can even remember. Hehehe! I am Shirlene and I live in Ogden, Utah - USA - when you LQQK at the US map - we are to the right of California by two states - it is the state that LQQKs like a little box on top of a bigger box. I live across from the Great Salt Lake and the mountains. I always love these sort of threads, because it allows us to get to know the members of the CUTE family. Thank you Lyn for starting it.
I have been embroidering since 2002 and I have a passion and Love of Lace (FSL-Free Standing Lace) for those that do not know me, yet. My Mother was LorettaG28 (Miss Loretta) - I miss her terribly. I haven't been doing much embroidery in the last year and have just moved into an senior apartment complex. I am working on getting my PC setup with my embroidery program and have my machines about ready to get to work. I hope to have all my extra stuff sorted and out of boxes really soon. I have missed being on the CUTE site and all of you very much. Unconditional Love, Shirlene
Hi everyone. I'm Betsey. Grace and Ham(let) were two of my favorite cats, long gone now. Current cats are Sugartoes (white paws dipped in sugar bowl?) and Dubba, who started out as W.C. or Wild Child. They were foundlings and somewhat feral. Dubba got panthered last year and lived to tell about it. My two boys are grown and gone. I'm at that awkward stage - retired and no grandbaby to hold. i flower garden a great deal and have been regrading an area by hand to make it suitable for a garden. Don't know where I get these dumb ideas. We live in rural Alabama, north of Auburn University about 1/2 hour. My hubby is a retired Methodist pastor. Anybody out there anywhere near me? Fascinating to see what a crowd we have from Australia and really from all over!
Betsy I cannot be very far from you. I'm between Gadsden and Trussville,Al and about as rural as you can get/Lillian
I have a feeling there are a few Aussies on here, but not as many as in the US of A.
Good day, Ladies (or should that be G'day, given the number of Aussies who have replied to this post!).
Here's a brief introduction to the odd one out amongst you. My name is Dennis and I am from a small village called Monkton which is situated in the county of Kent in the south-east of England. I am 65years going on 25 (I wish) and am married to the trouble and strife, Ann. We are now both retired, Ann from banking legal services and me from the fire and rescue service. We have no children of our own but just borrow them from family and friends on the basis that we can always give them back at the end of the day! It's not that we don't like children but can't eat a whole one in a single sitting...lol.
I was introduced to sewing as a lad, when I had to learn how to darn socks, replace buttons and pocket linings, and the like. I took up machine embroidery about two years ago, purely as a hobby. I also enjoy designing gardens and growing plants. I keep Koi carp in two ponds in my garden. I am a fair-weather motorcycle enthusiast, riding a Honda Goldwing when the conditions permit.
I enjoy watching motorcycle racing, CRICKET (for the benefit of the little minx) and rugby union. I detest anything to do with football (that is 'soccer' I believe for my American cousins).
If there is anything else you would like to know, you only have to ask.
He he he! Love from the Minx!
I'm with you on the Soccer side, but I do admit I love watching Australian Rules Football - it's played with an oval ball, very hard to kick it straight, but the guys that play do it well! Love Chris
Hi Dennis, Are you ready to lose the Ashes or will I have egg on my face. Please let us know what sewing you like to do or are you like me a do lots of different things?
The only Ash's we are going to loose is our ash trees to some nasty disease. Now, how do you like your egg..........raw, scrambled, fried...only joking....lol. Regarding sewing, my main interest is machine embroidery but I do other fairly basic machine sewing from time to time.
Dennis This took me back a few years. I had to darn all the socks in my family when I was young. People look at me as if I am crazy when I mention that specially my children.
Well now Lyn, what a lovely idea you have. It's so nice to be able to see where all us gals live. I see there a lot of ladies in Australia - I am amazed! May I be the first from South Africa to re-introduce myself. My name is Debbie (there seems to be a lot of us). I am 50 something, lost count now, and I live in Durban, the warmest part of the country. I am not a new cutie, been here for about 4 years. I design and sew clothing and costumes for theatre ballets and plays. I love this site and try to make time for embroidery, be it by hand or machine. Welcome to all the newbies around the world.
Would love to visit South Africa to see all of the beautiful and unusual plants that grow there.
I'm not too new, live near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and love it here. I have been sewing since I was about 8 (more than 50 years now!). I have a Bernina 730 which I love. I also do knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, and regular embroidery. There have to be more of us in the USA, wouldn't you think? Maureen
Hi I am from Devenish ne victoria, just a tiny spot on the map about 40 houses, love this site have gained so much info. I have a market stall so am always sewing, we do markets along the Murray (Auses will know where that is)...wendy
Sure do Wendy, it's the longest single river in Australia about 2375km. With only 40 houses in your township you must know all the families. Now that's what I call a close community. Love and blessings Chris
makets at Corowa, beechworth, numurkah, benalla, and odd ones echuca yarrawonga, wodonga, never stop sewing...wendy
Hi Lyn,
I am in Tweed Heads South, NSW, next to Coolangatta and gold coast.
It is a beautiful place. I'm a cutie since 2008, and love this family!
Hugs, Yoriko
Hi all, my name is Lesley and I am from Munno Para, nth of Adelaide, I have two grown children, and 6 gkids.
I'm on Eyre Peninsula, 200km up the coast from Port Lincoln. Elliston is a beach side town of some 300 residents about 20kms from me. I live on a farm with my DH. Our son lives next door(5kms away) with family and our daughter 80kms away with her family. We have 4 grandkids. I have been sewing for 40 years and mach. embr for about 8yrs.
All of my Grandmother and Grandfather's families come from over on the Eyre Peninsula. Puppa's family name was Golding and my Nanna's family name was Brougham. I believe there were a few families down in Lipsom, some in Port Lincoln too I think. I remember Nanna talking about a Taxi service called Brougham's. I think there were also a few black sheep amongst the family!!!! Love Chris
I have Glovers in my Family tree. Contacted all of them on Eyre Pen thinking I had found a branch. Sadly they are not related to me but appear to be related to one another .
Hi I am from Perth Western Australia , Love Sewing, quilting , machine embroidery , and I am lucky enough to have a son who works in the sewing machine industary. Cathy
Love Perth and the Banksias that grow over there. My son now lives in Brisbane so can't visit him in Perth now.
I have the Dandenong Ranges up a bit from me, Lyn, so I'm near the outer Melbourne hills, rather than the Adelaide ones. I'm also about 435km east of Alma, more east from Linda in WAus, quite a bit south of Sally, Chris and Olly and probably about an hour's drive from Jill. Welcome to all of the new Cuties who might be reading this,
Marianne
Think You are colder than I am. Australia is such a big country. Love the Fauna in the Dandenongs. Thought I have had a boring life but realise I have been so many places. Haven't been to Canberra.
Hi Marianne, it was lovely to meet up with you those few years ago in Melbourne. Of course we lived there for years out in Bayswater near the Dandenong ranges. If you're ever up this way drop in for a cuppa! Love Chris
I will have to somehow print all of these off so I can remember everyone. Thank you all.
Hi everyone,my name is Jill and I live North of Melbourne Victoria. I have three grown children and two granddaughters and I am nearly retired. yay.
Hello everyone. I was born in Cuba, as a child i moved to USA with my parents, lived in Grandville, Michigan, then NY, later Puerto Rico , and last back toUSA.
Mary - You like me has moved a lot over the years. Hope you are feeling a little Happier. It does take time.
Mary, I'm really pleased to see you've headed back to the US. You seemed so alone where you were before. I hope you can become much happier over time.
Hi everyone, my name is Susan. I live in Crystal River, Florida. It is considered a tourist town because of all the manatees that live here. I am 58 and lucky enough to be retired, so I can embroider any time I want.
I'm Kyla from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I've been sewing since I was 5, learned cross stitch, embroidery, a little ribbon embroidery, quilting and plastic canvas work too. Just learning about machine embroidery, only things I've done are practice scraps to get a feel for placement, stabilizing, tension, etc. Love collecting the gorgeous designs everybody shares here!
Do you still do alot of plastic canvas? I use to live to do it, now nobody seems to want it. I just loved it.
I don't do much plastic canvas anymore, did it all the time when I was younger...still have a few packaged kits around. I loved it but hated to try to clean it,lol. My late grandma taught it to me and she always had a project she wanted me to make for her after her eyes got bad.
Hi Kyla !
I am Bonnie and I live in NW Arkansas. I am about 1-2 hours from you.
Perhaps we can get together sometime!
Hugs, Bonnie
Hi y'all!!! I live in Louisiana (America)!!! About 2 miles south of the Arkansas line and 8 miles west of the Mississippi state line. Love cuties, just wish I had half the time and energy to devote to embroidery like all these talented cuties!!!
Let me add that I do have 9 grandchildren (love them babies!) and plan on retiring in about 2 years.....so looking forward to it!!!!
I'm from the middle of Mississippi, a town called Carrollton. Love embroidery, sewing for GC, working with the youth in our church, music, reading, chatting on internet with friends, Oh the list is just to long to write.
Hugs, Max
This site is very addictive and you have to have time to get through everything everyday
I live in Rugby, England and have been embroidering for more years than I like to think of. I have a Brother Innovis 1. My Birthday is 29 September.
My Late DH and I stayed with friends in Lilliborne (Forgotten how to spell it) They now live in Rugby also.
Hi,
i am not a new member neither, my Name is Gabi, i am from Germany, just turned 60yrs. young yesterday. I have two Grandchildren who kinda keep me from sewing and embroidering cause i watch them 5 - 6 days a week all day long so Mami and Daddy can go to work.
Happy birthday to you and you deserve a medal for babysitting all those days. I'm afraid I would not do that many days. Love and blessings Chris
happy birthday !
My little Zoe (4yrs) is here when i get off work, so i don't get into my sewing room until around 7 at night after she goes home. by then i am too tired... i usually sew projects for her dolls on the weekend... it's fast, fun, and her face is so cute when she sees what i've made for them...
i don't know if i could do it all day long like you... just a few hours a day wipes me out... and you have 2 gkids...i am impressed!....
debi
Hi all,
I am not a new member, just don't get a chance to chat much. My only decent internet is at work, so i get on during my break/lunch break.
I live just 30 or so miles north of Bakersfield, California. I am 58, have 2 sons, 6 grandkids, 1 g grandson. Been sewing most of my life, and just got into embroidery 2 years ago. i am having so much fun i would love to quit work so i could play more, but i KNOW "that aint gonna happen"... lol..
debi
I doubt if I will get your way again since losing my DH in 2007. That is unless I marry a rich millionaire??????
I am currently living in Nanjing China, but will be returning to Utah, USA in June. I love embroidery & digitizing, sewing, quilting, illustrating and writing books, gardening, and time with my family (especially the GC), and luncheons a get togethers with my friends.
I have a 630, and a 230 (Berninas.) Someone on a yahoo group titled Bernina the "Bentley" of sewing machines. I do love the two that I have. I also have a Pfaff quilting machine, a Singer feather weight that I tote to quilt quild and sewing classes. Also a hand crank machine, a treadle machine and a felting machine. There isn't enough of me for all those toys, but I'm trying.
I am from Quakers Hill, a suburb of Sydney. I love sewing and crafting. I have a 22 year old daughter and a 16 year old son. I am an ex school teacher. I am originally from South Africa but have lived in Australia for 15 years and I am an Australian Citizen. Like Chris, I have a Husqvarna Designer 1. Unlike Chris however, I cannot bring myself to watch cricket - would rather have my teeth pulled without anaesthetic!!
HA HA HA HA! Is it because us Aussies have played pretty well against the South Africans Coral? That comment made me laugh out loud! I was a dental receptionist for 10 years too! Love and blessings Chris
Love the South African accent. Chris please don't talk about Cricket until our Guys come home with the Ashes. Fingers Crossed
We can only but pray! And if they don't get them, then we have December when the Pommies come to play us. We have booked our hotel at the beginning of the year just outside of Rundle Mall. Taking Mum along with us as an early 80th birthday present. I'll take her out whilst Trev goes to the cricket. Time well spent! Love Chris
Surely the cricket season should be over!!! PLEASE let it be over!!!!! Ha HA - now AFL - that I can watch. And Chris ...... ha ha - If I HAD to support a team, I guess it would be Australia and not South Africa.
Good Morning to all. I'm Sandy from Northern Minnesota USA. 64 years old. Have sewed my whole life and been embroidering for about 5 years after a divorce. I have 2 children. Hi gals and guys,
I'm Chris and I live in beautiful Jewells a suburb of Newcastle, on the East coast of New South Wales, Australia. I've been a Cutie member here since just after Veronika started this site. I have 3 children, 2 married and one in a partnership for over 8 years and 5 grandchildren. I love sewing and have a Husqvarna Designer 1 and a Brother Quattro Innovis Eye. I also love singing, gardening and CRICKET! (This is just a little "in" joke for Dennis from England, when he reads the post!) Love and blessings Chris.
Hope they can bring back the Ashes but our boys are not as good as a few years ago. Why do they have to age and retire?
Michelle
55 years young (on most days lol)
embroidering for 4 years now and LOVE it
I live near Montréal, Canada
Hello cuties,
I´m 52 years old and from Portugal. I live on the coast, about 55Km north of Lisbon.
I am married, have three adult children and soon I will be grandmother for the first time. My hobby is all kinds of crafts. If it were possible, I did not work full time and dedicated myself only the arts. But this is just a dream for at least another 14 years more.
Hugs Anabela
Hello Anabela. When I look at your photo it almost looks like me when I was younger.
Deep South-East of South Australia - home of the world famous Blue Lake.... 15Km from Victorian Border, 28Km from Southern Ocean, 444Km from Adelaide, 440Km from Melbourne, just about 400Km from just about Anywhere. I reckon I'm one step up on the ladder from dollygk.... :}

Hi all, I'm the only one from Saudi Arabia and I love this site, such a caring community!
I'm not a new member but I also like to know where everyone is from. I so enjoy the birthday listings everyday as that tells us where different ones live. I'm in the USA and live in Southwest Missouri. A small town in the Ozark Hills called Shell Knob. Juanita
Hi Jaunita, I live in Lincoln, AR. We are practically neighbors ! You are about an hour 1/2 from me. I have visited Shell Knob a few years back.
Bonnie
