yesterday i did a BooBoo and splashed some chlorine bleach onto my denim skirt

Not a lot but enough to spoil and mark it.
Do i throw it away or rescue it? RESCUE IT
I lay the skirt out on the table and sandwiched some paper between the the front and back. Next i poured a small amount of bleach into a pot and then grabbed a cotton bud and a small art brush and set to work.
I dipped the cotton bud into the bleach and created flowers and leaves climbing up the damaged panel, then useing the brush i painted in stems and twirly bits and left it all to dry. ten minutes later the bleach had done its work and i was left with white work on the blue denim.
Right next step wash it to remove the bleach.... once dry i returned with it to the table and again placed paper between the front and back of the skirt
Now the fun begins. Useing Pro markers and Sharpies in several colores i began to fill in the white bleached design.
Finally i ironed the design to set the colors.
This morning i wore the skirt ot go out in and had several comments from friends on it. one woman asked me where i had purchased it from and was amazed when i told her what i had done. She is going to find a p[air of jeans and have a go at personalising them.
here is the result of my BooBoo.
It actuall looks better than this as you can see the veins in the leaves and fine detail on the petals

Please do!! I do NOT like those ripped jeans!! And what they pay for them!!! Mercy me! I'd rip them for them a whole lot cheaper!

eggyannie by eggyannie 26 Oct 2013

when i was a child i would have been too ashamed to have walked out in ripped jeans they would at least have a patch on them

I really love the way the flower design is sitting in the white background and wanders up the panel. Very arty. Very chic.

Awesome, I have had to do this my self! it is fun when we can save some thing. I have a T-Shirt that I need to save now, yes I still smoke..
I light a Cig, and the dang fire fell out of it right on the side of the lower left breast. almost under the arm, so I am trying to figure out what small
design I can put it does have roses on it and say Vintage across the top.
so I was thinking a Small rose bud in the same color of the Roses in the front! the roses are not done in thread though, they are a spray on seed like frosted like beads. but I am thinking a Tiny white Rose bud can still be added. what the hay, it is better than a finger tip whole! and it is one of my favorite T-Shirts.

Congratulations on your 'new' skirt. When you say a bleach pen do you mean a dental one?

eggyannie by eggyannie 18 Jun 2013

not that kind its the ones that contain chlorine bleach to remove small stains from garments or cups or worksurfaces and the like.
I am going to experiment with some cheap childrens felt pens by putting them into a chlorine bleach solution and removing the color and then using them to draw designs onto plain cotton fabric for quilting. it will save money.

Would look great on those dried up ones - got a temperary marker that's far past its prime and will give it a try.

eggyannie by eggyannie 23 Jun 2013

works great on stencils, go around the sides of the stencils with a wax pencil, Wax tapers work well just to stop the bleach from spreading and then bleach, wait then ewash and color . Do not forget to cover with kitchen towel then iron to set the color and remove the wax

Terrific! What a great way to have saved the skirt. Very creative... And that must be a classy skirt. I can see it is multi paneled. How many panels does it have?

Wow! you may have started a new trend. We can call it Bleach Art Work. As I was reading your post, I just knew you were going to say that you finished it by adding some embroidery line work. Great job saving your skirt. Kay
