If you have made a fill object and want an automatic outline, click Convert / Create outline from fill and you'll get a single run. You can change that to treble run or satin stitch in parameters, or if you want a double run use create backward path.
For a complex design (more than one fill and / or column object) you can use Transform / Auto outliner BUT if you have your objects overlapping slightly to avoid gaps you get double lines along those borders. If you want to use that feature you'd better digitise the different parts exactly touching and set the pull compensation for the object to a higher setting - 0.3 or so. Then you'll get nice clean outlines. Say yes when asked if you want the outlines combined and you get a continuous double run.

It works the other way round as well: convert your (closed) outline to fill and move the fill in the object list so it is stitched before the outline.
