The work is OUTSTANDING. Just beautiful. Learned smocking at school, hate to say how many years ago lol and loved it than. the mother will be thrilled to receive such a special present.
Your hand smoking looks better than mine. Did you machine or hand stitch your rows? I have not done the stitching yet, now I see yours I think I can move forward. Thanks for sharing all the pics, especially the last one!
I pleated it with my pleater, this just makes the pleats, for me to smock on.The pleater threads are the black threads in the last photo, at bottom photo. Then I hand smock the cables,at the neck edge & diamond shape designs. Then hand emb the flower. Then of course, I sew it all together to make dress.
You can see my pleater a little bit in the bottom photo. This just gives you the pleats to work on.
Toogie this is .....Adorable, outstanding beautiful work.
Your work is beautiful!!!! What a special gift ! Makes me want to start smocking again! But, I am now doing a counted cross stitch bride! and it is beaded which I love! I just want to do it all!! lol Not enough time....
I know what you mean.I haven't done cross stitch in a long time,I recently crocheted an edge to a white blanket, I made the baby to be.I like to do different things, too, and also there's not enough time...
Very, Very Nice!! Congratulations on the new & soon babies!! Hugs, Tammy
So beautiful, and hand stitched - this is surely going to be a new family heirloom. You've done a marvelous job. Such talent!!
Before I finished the smocking, not stocking.sorry. Hope you all like. The sleeves are long sleeved and the gown is long. It should fit a newborn.-Toogie
