Thanks for the question and thank you all for the answers. I didn't know the answer to this and will be using this information for this Christmas.
For a man I would point it inward and for a lady outward. Susan
does the bobbin thread have to match like fsl. I am doing monogram in black.
I'd base that answer as depending how well your machine behaves, particularly when doing lettering. A lot of machines need a fine tension adjustment with lettering to make sure the bobbin thread stays below the fabric.
On a handkerchief I always do facing the ........( men or women), well I added this picture that's easier....to see what I mean:
A picture paints a thousand words.............or something like that! Spot on Gerry although, personally, I wouldn't go for the flowers for a bloke.
what a lovely hankie Gerry thank you for sharing. I am going to do them like this too but with monogrammed initials thank you Hugs Loralye
My handkerchiefs are all very old and designs(men or ladies) all point toward outside just like in your picture. some are the finest Irish linen of it's day. .
I think my head must be on backwards :) I'd call this example pointing inwards towards the centre :)
I would do it just like I would a napkin, in the corner.
Depends if the hankie will be worn in a jacket pocket--and that doesn't happen much anymore--I don't think.? Anyway, I think it has always pointed toward the center.
