Cornflower.

I am working on a couple of blue placemats and designed a couple of summer flowers. Here's the cornflower. I used 4 shades of blue, but could not see the difference between 3 and 4 when stitched out, so I changed those two to just one dark blue. Now I have to do another one and piece and quilt the placemats.

Cornflower is also one of my favorites, it is about the bluest a flower can get, without showing other hues...very pretty!

"Cornflower" was always my favorite color in the crayon box. I had no idea where the name came from until many years later. It is still my favorite color, and now I love the flowers too!! You have done a beautiful job of replicating the flower!!! Congratulations on your skill and artistic ability!

Really like these flowers, my Dad used to grow them in the garden in Rhodesia when I was little.

These are really pretty - the flower colours are just like the ones in the garden!

So pretty! My grandma called those ragged robins...that's not their name, but I alway think of them as such. We would either pick them or buy them for "decoration day" at the cementery in May. Tks for the memories.

Beautiful! This is one of the first flowers that I can remember catching my eye at young age. So pretty and peaceful!

Thank you. First flower that cought my eye must have been one of my mum's pelargoniums which I tried to eat to my mum's horror. But cornflowers and poppies are the ones i remember from summer vacations on a farm, well before herbicides changed the look of wheatfields. I've got some cultivated cornflowers in my garden and digitised the full flower when they were in bloom. Yesterday I had a good look at the leaves and digitised those, did the flower on the right and liked the result.

Thank you. I'm addicted, so much so I have hardly the time to stitch them out, let alone make nice projects. I really should start sewing a jacket before the summer is gone!
