The method I learned was cutting the lace along the pattern, overlapping the other side of the dart and carefully stitching it together with a small zigzag and then you can cut away the seam at the back. Works best with guipure lace that has satin stitch outline around the shapes. You might have to move the dart in the pattern slightly to get the best result.
