I got my Husqvarna Viking Designer Diamond Deluxe today! It's my 5th wedding anniversary today.

As you know, I've been trying to choose from Pfaff Creative Sensation and a Husqvarna Viking Designer Diamond Deluxe. They are both top of line, and because their newer versions are coming out, the dealers are selling off their floor models.

They both have the same size hoops, which is on the top of my list.

I do like Pfaff Creative Sensation slightly better because of the IDT and Stitch Creator. The final price we got from the Pfaff dealer was 5999 with trade-in. The only discount is 2% if we pay cash. On top of that, there is 500 dollars mail-in rebate from Pfaff. We would have to buy a cheap embroidery machine from Craig's List for almost 200(asking price 200) to trade it in. Without trade-in, the price is 6499.

I went back to the Viking inside Joann's a block away again and asked the lady what she found out with her boss about the price. She told me usually they need to see something in writing to match the price. I showed her the brochure from Pfaff in Phoenix I got when I was on vacation there 3 days ago and told her about the features I really liked about Pfaff that Viking doesn't have. And I told her the price Pfaff quoted me.

Anyway, long story short, the final price we got was about 400 dollars less than the Pfaff. And most important of all, this is only 5 minutes (if that) away and Pfaff dealership is 75+ minutes away. That's gonna be tough for me to go to classes and such with a 1-year-old baby.

I will also get 30% off all notions and accessories there. I bought the 350*360 hoop today. So now I have the hoop, but not the machine!

They don't have a machine there and they'll get one from a different store. I'll get my machine next week. It's going to be a floor model. The Pfaff dealer also sells Viking and they have a new DDD, but they are asking 7999 plus tax. There should be some room for bargaining, but not much. Anyway, I got the floor model of Viking DDD for 6000 cash including tax. And I can still get the 500 dollar rebate.

I am so excited! Can't wait to get my machine.

It will still come with full warranty. And the classes will be convenient for me to go and I really like the lady there. I go to that Joann's all the time. I just never thought I would buy a Husqvarna and I never went in there!

Their presser feet seem pretty expensive, most being 34.95. The cutwork needle set seems nice, but really expensive(4 for 49.95). I was always wondering how they could get the holes in the cutwork do neat! The needles also come with a design disc. I'll probably get that when I get the machine.

Congratulations for the new member of the family!!!!! Perfect time, now you could do beautiful large designs, like tablecloth runners etc. without the rehooping.

Thank you! My dream machine used to be the Baby Lock Ellisimo Gold/ Brother Quattro, but I decided that larger hoops and convenience of the dealer are more important. Plus I couldn't get a good deal on those machines, but Viking and Pfaff are trying to get rid of these before the new models come in Sep and Oct.

Congradualtions on your anniversary AND new machine. Pretty nice anniv gift!! Sounds like you got a very fair deal and best of all a good dealer. The dealer was the reason, several years ago ,that I switched from "another brand" to Viking. I bought a DDD , my 4th Viking, but am using my SE until this fall and i am anxious to get going on the Diamond. Hope you lke yours .Oh yes, the feet may seem expensive but they are often on sale, just keep a running list when you think you would like one so you'll be ready when they go on sale . The other thing is that the feet fit all their machines so you don't have to get all new ones when you upgrade as I had to do 3 times with my "other brand".

Thank you! I've had bad experience with a dealer before as well. My Baby Lock dealer is awesome. This is the closest dealer! With the new baby, I can't afford to drive too far for classes. I am pretty happy.

Do their accessories go on sale a lot? how big is the sale compared to 30% off?

We got my DDD last November and it is terrific. I really thought nothing could be better than the Designer I (I have 2) but they are wearing out and my husband said I was wearing out the car running back and forth to get repairs. One word - Embrilliance Essentials is a good relatively inexpensive easy to use software program and preferable to the 5D Embroidery sets that are very expensive. Of course, it depends on what you want to do with your software.

Congratulations on being a canny buyer and buying a good machine.
I have an old Husqvarna Viking Designer II (sewing, quilting, embroidery) and it's an absolute workhorse. I love it and dread the day it retires itself. I hope you get the same mileage out of your new machine.
I also have a new Pfaff Ambition 1.5 for normal sewing and quilting and love that, too, for the inbuilt walking foot and the superb accuracy of the stitching.

I bought the Pfaff to free up the HVDII for permanent embroidery and its lighter weight for going to sewing groups.
I couldn't comment before because my embroidery machine must be vintage at least by now and the Pfaff isn't for embroidery.

I'm sure you'll get years and yeas of fun and satisfaction from your machine if you treat it welll.
AlmaG.

Congratulations on your new machine. And happy anniversary.
I bought the cutwork needle set with the CD when they first came on the market here. I went to a demo at the dealer's and came home with the set ... and a Ruby. Since then you can buy the Inspira needles, just the 4 in a box, for far less. The cd has 4 designs but the machine comes with many more cutwork designs, and lots of others as well. So you might opt for the (replacement) needles only.

Thank you! I did not see the replacement needles and I will certainly ask about them.

I have a diamond .I found the feet were cheaper on ebay & the internet.I went through the accessory book that comes with the machine & marked what feet that I would use ,compared prices on ebay & bought feet from England & the US when they were a good price .I lovethe clear invisible zip foot & the narrow zipper foot. Also the edge joining set has many uses.Feet in Australia are very expensive , even with overseas postage & currency conversion I saved a lot of money

Congratulations..I know you did your research and consulted many Cuties here...good that you got a fantastic price, better that you got a full warranty, and best that the dealer is only five minutes away...that is the super star of your deal! As time progresses, you will be soooo glad that you can go and "park your bum" on the dealers floor and get the lessons and service that you paid for...and take full advantage of that!!! Sooo happy for you!!!
