My dear cutie friends: I have news about my sister: She has 3 weeks to decide what she wants to do:

choice #1: nothing
choice #2: continue with what she has been doing & they say she will be on dialysis as it will kill her other kidney
choice #3: half the dose of the meds she is taking & continue the radiation, but no more chemo. This is less then 50% recovery as the drugs will not be as effective.
Not very good choices if you ask me. Please keep her in your prayers. Hugs Loralye

Just wondering after your sister makes her choice, can she change it later to one of the others? After she makes her decision she will find more piece of mind. My thoughts are with you both. big hugs and cuddles Heather.

Loralye, I have prayed for you both and will continue. She needs to find someone who has gone through this to help her in her decision unless her doctor is very forthcoming in explaining everything. Maybe if she can go see a nephrologist her choice might be clearer. In the meantime, we will keep petitioning on her behalf.

Prayers for a good choice and result. This is so tough, and I liked the advice below about seeing a nephrologist for help in choosing. Also, should family members be getting checked for a possible kidney donation match NOW? My friend Margaret received a kidney from her niece after only a short few weeks on dialysis (when she wasn't real sick yet) and lived ten more years with the kidney, died of something else!! She said the key was taking the anti-rejection exactly on schedule and staying ON the kidney diet. Praying for the best.

Loralye, you dear sister is in my prayers. What a horrible choice they have given her. If she chooses dialysis, would she be eligible for a kidney transplant. Just know she'll make the decision that is the correct one for her. Prayers for her and your entire family.

I'm on the kidney transplant list and recommend she see a nephrologist to help her decide. The choices she has really put her between a rock and a hard place. I will continue praying for her. --Sandra
