If you know where their den is....trying putting some rags soaked with ammonia near their entrance.....they do not like it at all. Imagine a stinker not liking a stink?!? They might leave your area at least.
Oh, my goodness, do I ever know what you are talking about. Our "stink bombs" come up to eat the cat food that is out for the stray kitties......nothing we can do about it, as I need to provide food for the homeless cats......of course, the groundhogs, possums and coons are also free feeding.......oh well, there goes the neighborhood...LOL!!
we got to work and about 2/3 way through the shift, there must have been skunks out side///the plant wasn't smelling too great...it must be mating season for those little stinkies...they are everywhere
Just in case it might work, try cutting one big onion paper-thin and spread on a paper plate. Put in room and close door for a while. Onion cells are great storage cells for strong odors. This is what I do if I paint a room in the wintertime (and can't open the windows). If the onion absorbs the bad odor, sack it up, put in the trash and you're done!
We had them move into our shed, while we were in China. Our daughter got a live trap and caught them. This year one moved in right after we got home. Back to the live trap. We catch them, then cover the cage with a large towel or blanket, and remove it from the shed. They can't get their tails up to stink while in the cage.
Our cats like to go into the shed, with a cat door. But we've had to lock it. Hopefully the skunks will hibernate so the cats can have their home back for the winter.
When I was growing up, we had a pair of skunks move in under the house, and that pair had babies, right under my bedroom. It is interesting how those little ones learn to use their "stinkers". :) It is quite unpleasant too. Good luck. Perhaps you can come up with a way to encourage them to leave without scaring them? Or get a trap from the Humane Society and relocate them? We pumped real hot air under the house, which made them get out for some fresh air, and then covered up their entryway.
My sympathies to you. Hopefully it or they will disappear soon, very soon.
For me it is my bedroom as I want to go to sleep. Thank goodness it is now as often as it was a few years back. Unfortunately only a change of season may help your situation. Happy Fall!
yep...can't wait for those dreadful things to hibernate...my bedroom is next to the sewing room
