We live in the states and my son works for the forestry. He said there are a lot more snakes this year.I would show you a photo, but it is on my iphone and they load usually sideways here.A guy was with one of my grandsons, 4 wheeler riding in the woods. My g-sons 4 wheeler got stuck and this guy reached in the water to hook a rope on his 4 wheeler when he got bit.A cottonmouth bit him on his middle finger. The doctors had to cut him all up the arm and hand, the swelling/poison was so bad. That was about 6 months ago.He is alive but had to had multiple surgeries.Don't want to make you paranoid but yes,do be careful.
My goodness that was bad...I often wonder why God created snakes.....Hmmmmmm..
Got a thought, maybe it was Satan who created it since it was first mentioned in the Bible when Satan disguised as a Serpent tempted Eve..
Had one at the front door last week. I kept my cool and did not loose my head BUT I cannot say the same for the snake!!!!!!!!. Saw another yesterday in the same place but it was too quick for me. I have a garden spade at my front door. Marg
we do have a LONG handle shovel/spade but usually we have to remember where we left it last time used, by the time we vet it snakie is usually taken off then it's a worry 'where it is'
Of course it would have to accidently kill itself on your shovel because you wouldn't want to incur a fine for despatching one of our "endangered" reptiles. A brown snake had an unfortunate accident in my yard some time back.
I heard of a farmer being fined $500 for killing a snake.
Where do you guys live that they fine you? Come to Alabama, where we have the annual Rattlesnake Roundup in Opp. Kill as many as you like!
My old dog kills snakes and rats, the whole neighbourhood knows when we have a snake as she just does not stop barking till someone has a look at her prise. At the moment with myself not being so steady on my feet, it is a good thing that she gets the attention of people around me, if I need help all I have to say to my dog is WHATS IS IT and she will not stop barking till someone comes to help me.
they are so loveing and careing for their owners, pet dogs. Glad you have one who cares
Are they poisonous? Isn't there a breed of dog that goes after snakes! I think that is the kind of dog I would want around if it is poisonous. Be careful.
Wow! please be careful Kerry. They are the nastiest ones! So hot down here in Newcastle today 32C and yesterday. Too hot, too early for my liking. Love Chris
oh yes I usually have a good eye for them, the little one asked the day before is she could check for eggs, I actually said no because I don't like them going into the hen house because of that reason. One loves to go bare foot here, we are always saying put your gum boots on. I will be very careful Chris.
