woman's shelters always need quilts etc for their shelters, perhaps some of it could be whipped up into lap quilts.
You could possibly check Nancy Zieman's(nancy'snotions.com) site for charities to send fabrics& ideas too.
Do you quilt? Most of those you have shown-esp the last one- would be great to use in the Stack & Whack method by Bethany Reynolds. With these the bigger, louder prints become stunning.
Uh huh!!!! Been there, done that - if the fabric doesn't appeal to you it really becomes a millstone around your neck. Looks too good to throw away (and looks like a lot of it) Could you use it to test out patterns (bags?), use for backing fabrics or possibly as an extra layer instead of batting?
Your potato bags look really good in the fabric
I would make a two sided Quilt for the lady using each piece of fabric she gave you with matching Pillow Shams. If not a Quilt a Dooner Cover & Shams. Enjoy yourself
lovely lot.I was given a large box fill a couple of weeks ago. Did share it with other.Just made a runner and 6 place mats with one piece Will post later
Wow, now this should keep you occupied for a very long time. Can't wait to see what you will come up with all of this. I reckon a lovely summer dress out of the black floral print! Looks very much like something an islander would wear. Love Chris
I happen to hate dresses and don't ask me to sew one lol but someone might but not me!!!lol
lovely lot. bags cushion covers ? where has cuties designs gone ? no link anymore ?
Wow!!!Beautiful fabric...Tissue holders,toilet bag,scrap/craft bag..So many ideas to think of..
Enjoyed reading all the creative ideas the cuties came up for you. I didn't see curtains/window/shower, pillowcase dresses, band for on a towel. I know you will figure out how to use most of the yardage up. will wait and see how the fabrics make up for you.
If you don't think you can use it, you might want to contact your local shelter to see if there are people who are sewing quilts for them. I sew with a small group of ladies who make quilts for the shelter and we'll use any fabric to make sure we can make as many as possible. We made 18 twin sized quilts in four weeks last winter!
I live one hour in the bush in Northern,Ontario and there is no such place for hours in any direction .But we do have a Salvation Army thrift store an hour away .thanks
These are very nice fabrics & if you want to use a big chunk @ once then make a table cloth or a shopping bag. There is no such thing as ugly fabric put it with something else to bring out the beauty in each pc. Try it, it really does work. The top 2 are gorgeous & work well together! Hugs Loralye
The black print would be stunning if you cut it into jellyroll strips, added some smaller prints in coordinating colors and made a quilted jacket. I can see it now. Attached is a picture of the sleeve for a project I have in progress called a fractured bargello.
Oh my this is excellent .I want to see this when your finished for sure hugs Carolyn
I like the tan with the red flowers.... I would make a tote bag our of it... What a wonderlady to give this to you....
Make her a couple of bags using the same fabric to line it with so it is reversible. I am sure she would appreciate it very much. And I agree, some of it donate it to an organization in her name. Since it all is in prints you wouldn't need to embroider them.
I like the black too, I love making pillowcases, the sausage pillow cases found on you tube or other links through google. The black would also make a pretty skirt if you have enough fabric. Nice stash!!!
The black is brilliant. I'm sure you will think of something to make for her!
Omg!!!! YOU ARE A GOOD LADY AND PEOPLE LOVE YOU!!! maybe make a gown for her for around the house, pillows...she will be very happy! hugs.
In my state, plastic grocery bags have been banned. Eventually that will happen all across the nation. These pieces would make some very nice cheerful grocery bags! Or perhaps some bags for what ever you would like to carry. What a wonderful gift! I hope you find something fun to do with it. Big prints can be challenging, but done right, look absolutely stunning!
Oh, Carolyn, how funny, that last bright hawaiian one is one I'd love, hee hee hee, I'd make a skirt out of it. Anyway, what I was thinking, do you have any quilters that do Project Linus blankets/quilts anywhere near? If these are cotton fabrics, somebody could match them with something else and make a quilt I'm sure a young child would love, the bright happy colors! I'm putting a link for a post that talks about Project Linus, and gives a link. For the dear lady who gifted you with these, maybe a summer robe out of the white with the coral flowers, or a nightgown? It looks like a lightweight fabric. Maybe throw pillow covers out of the large print, that looks like upholstry fabric, or heavy polished cotton. Hey, there's always dish towels, hee hee hee, hugs, Marji
wow.. lots of fabric.. if it is nice and smooth.. pillow cases for the bed.. that is always fun.. skirts for little girls.. just add elastic to the waist.. have fun what ever you make..
The wild print would be perfect as a Hawaiian Moo-moo/house-dress. It might also work as an apron for one of the younger crowd or the lady that gave it to you.
I used to use cottons for linings in dresses, but I haven't worn dresses in a while. I have been thinking about some towel toppers and potholders. maybe that would work. My sister wanted me to make shoe bag holders when traveling. Maybe you could to that. Kay
Wow!!! I just had a thought!!!! She liked those prints when she bought them. Make something for her. She would love it!!! Kay
yes i will but what i am not sure yet.To tired to think tonight lol Thanks Kate!!hugs
If you really don't want it or won't use maybe you could donate it to the sally ann shop ,maybe get something in trade. If it would not hurt her feelings, keep a smaller amount for yourself
You say oh no, I say Oh my! Like Bev the Black has few more possibilities. The top picture with yellow tone and flowers well a pillow in an ladys special room that loves those flowers. Bless her heart. The Orange Wow.... Can you get some words of inspiration with your fonts talent in between the Big leafs? for a mat or something? That is best I can come up with unless you want to make it into strips for strip quilt or rag rug.
i just bought a machine well 2 weeks ago and never opened it yet.Its a go baby thing that makes stripes 2.5 inches wide i think??? and i want to try it and make or crochet a few more big rugs. That way u can't see the wildness of this stuff lol
