And I bet behind every piece of fabric there is a story to tell too. I am so sorry about your foot Lillian. I do hope you are out of pain soon and that it heals really fast. Love and blessings Chris
what a great way to use up your scraps ,your quilt looks very sweet
It's a sweet quilt. I know it will be treasured.
I love the scrappy look and this is so nice your neighbors will love it.
I love the scrappy look of the quilt, it makes it so colourful. You did a great job and I am sure your neighbour will be delighted.
Thanks Martine and for answering Q of H question. I did do some both ways. some scraps were larger than others so it worked out well. I try to salvage everything I can.
I am not familar with the term string patchwork. Will someone please explain what it means?
It is the term used for (paper-pieced) blocks made of narrow strips of fabric. Here they are the diaonally striped blocks.
Thank you and as I see Martine has answ. your ques re a string quilt. They are great for using up small pieces of scraps. Grandmother always said. "Waste not want not and you can use what you normally would discard when you do a string block.
Thank you, I am familar with paper piecing but I use it when I am creating a pattern. But I can see how you can use up small pieces when you have a foundation.
I adore these scrappy looking quilts. I've never actually done a string quilt, but I have quilts using scraps. You did a great job and I know your neighbor will be so happy to have her little one hugged in the love you stitched into this. ;)
Thans much dear. There's a story behind this. when I delivered it I was attacked and bitten by their dog, have been on antibiotic for 7 days and now they tell me I must have some surgery done to remove dead flesh from around my ankle and start wound care. It simply has gotten worse and worse and is very painful.
What a sweet thing to do!! And, your stitchin is wonderful!!! This will be a wonderful keepsake for them!! Hugs, Laura*
