I find it best to use the glow in the dark thread in designs that are low in density....if doing lettering lower the density and don't attempt any lettering in small font size. You also have to decrease the upper tension a few increments and just keep trying samples until you get the look you want. It isn't the easiest thread to embroider with.
I remembered the trick with metallic thread it has to be u right for some reason try that I been doing this for 20 years and really enjoy the new designs in applique. God blessing to all and have a grand day. Hope this helps
I have sent it in to my guy! Hubby had to go to work & he was able to drop it just now to his house. Thankfully he is less then a mile away & just blocks from my hubbie's work. I tried everything I could think of & because it has an auto tension it should not have done this so it had to be corrected by an expert & that is not me. I thank you for trying to help me to fix it. Hopefully he my guy can do it sooner rather then later. I already feel lost without it..............how sad am I? sigh...............
Something else to try. I make no promises that it will work. Put the spool of thread on a thread stand and place it a foot or so away from the machine. If you don't have a thread stand put the spool in a tall cup or glass. Thread the machine as usual. This works well for me with metallic thread. I am hoping it will work for the lunar thread. I have used metallic thread doing this without changing tensions or needles. Please let me know if it works or not. I have the solar thread and have not used it yet. It would be helpful to know if I need to try this threading method. I hope you do find the right fix and soon.
This is how I started with it in a thread spool away from the machine but thanks for trying Karen
Hi Loralye, have you got WSS on top of the towel as well as stabiliser underneath the towel? Maybe loosen the tension to 2.6 - I know my machine (Husqvarna) is set to 2.8 but when I'm sewing something a bit thicker I lower it. Do you have a big needle say a 14 with a large eye so that the thread is not nesting? Also make sure that the needle is right up in the needle holder and is securely in position. Check the bobbin plate that there are no nicks, cause that creates problems. Make sure the bobbin is placed in correctly too and that the thread is going the right way. I've done this before and ended up in a huge bird's nest mess, where it even took the metal plate off at the back of the bobbin case! I hope you can sort something out. The other thing I do is remove the hoop and cut off all the back threads and remove them all and then put it back and retrace to an earlier number of stitches and redo it. Good luck, love Chris
Also run some Dental floss through the threading as it you were threading your cotton. There may be some loose threads lying around either there or in the bobbin case. Love Chris
me also broke two needle think it the thread , not the machine thread made in china ???? gave up tried metal needle and gold needle no luck
I have used the glow in the dark thread & I think that has started the issue but now my good thread won't work either
Not sure what size needle you are using, but you will need to loosen your top tension and increase the needle size...I would try 14...this thread sews kind of like metallics...it can be finicky....Also, because you are sewing on towels, you need to make sure that you are really stabilized well...if you are using tear-away, you will need to probably use a good spray adhesive...even if you are hooping the towel...
My grands are coming for Thanksgiving & I am hoping to make them each a towel. Any help is appreciated. I have the Janome 12000
