This is the Frankie Design from EB that I used the Glow in the Dark thread on! After this messing up my machine & taking it to my guy last night he was able to fix it & I had it back this morning by 10am. He said it WAS THE THREAD! I will use the new spool of GlowDark thread for hand work but will not put it my machine again. It was too much stress for me LOL. I had to take it out of the hoop before it was done so he could use the hoop. When I put it back which I have to say I got it in pretty much the right spot? Not sure how I did that but if you look @ his hair do on the right side of it, it is a bit thicker this was me going over it again to make up for the nest that I kept getting & his face is heavier on the left but after all is said & done it is done & my grandson will be pleased with the way his face glows in the dark LOL & He will have no idea of what his nana had to do to make this happen LOL

Very cute!! I have 3 different brands of Glow in the Dark threads (Robison-Anton, Superior & Sulky)....and ALL gave me problems. I kept getting thread nests on top and bottom. I recently sent an email to Superior Threads asking for advice. They said it is best to use a thread stand for Glow in the Dark thread. Also, I found that using Metallic needles helped a lot. Treating it as you would Metallic thread worked for me. I recently purchased the Hemingworth Control-A-Twist stand. A must have for Metallic & Specialty threads. I love it!

Please don't give up on Glow in the Dark thread. There are so many great designs for them. I too have used Coats and Clark and had no problem. I also used Maderia. So just try a different brand than you were using. Good Luck. Tis the Season...

Thanks for the information, what kind of machine do you have?

I've tried to also use Glow in the Dark thread for Halloween gifts and it kept breaking every 10 stitches! It really messed up my ghost design and I finally gave up on it. My Quattro isn't picky about thread and I just couldn't stand re-threading the machine multiple times. So, I'm glad to hear that it's the thread! LOL Thanks for sharing! You made my day by compisserating.

LOL it is such a shame because the outcome on the towel is really cute but not worth ruining my machine over a spool of thread! Good to know I am not alone too! Hugs Loralye

I don't believe the thread was too thick for your machine. I just finished 10 shirts using Coats and Clarks glow in the dark thread with no problems. Did you use a topping on your towel? And I think I see a bit of hoop burn so you should try not to hoop towels. Use a needle with a larger eye and give it another try. Good luck. Hugs. Nan

Very cute design...too bad about the Glow in the Dark thread...because this is the perfect use for it! Interesting that the tech said that the weight of the thread was the problem...what does that mean when you want to use some of the other specialty threads for decorative sewing that are heavier...like 30 wt cottons for that vintage redwork designs...I know Anita Goodesign has several redwork and colorwork designs that use 30 wt cotton thread to give that hand stitched vintage look...perhaps you might want to check with your tech and see what he says about those types...would be interested to know...

I think because this is so much courser? I am not sure but you can feel the difference & it has a coating on it too you can feel that? It is a shame because I was hoping to make all of them with this thread. I have used all cotton in both bobbin & top & had no issues so thought this was ok too? sigh........

so cute!

i was having some trouble with my janome 11000 which seems to dislike all thread--sort of problematic for a sewing machine...but especially the glo-in-the dark, mine was sulky 40 wt. could you let me know what yours was? .

I thought it was just my little janome 300E and that if i moved up, it would improve (

My was from Gamut Threads an online store. Hubby took me there for my birthday a year ago & this was my first time using it. I would have really liked the effect this gives but not the headache. Sorry I wish I had something better to tell you. Hugs ***

Glad you have your machine up and running again. I had some of that glow in the dark thread years ago. Don't recall having any problems with it then. Maybe the newer machines do not like it. I have found my 11000 is very fussy what threads I use. Any way you did a good job lining the design back in your hoop. Your GS will love it. Hugs Shirley

Did your technician say exactly what was wrong with the thread? Very keen to know as I am getting a friend to purchase some for me, and I will too afraid to use it.

He said the weight of it was wrong for my machine, it is thicker then the rest of the embroidery threads & or reg sewing thread too.
