I posted this 2 days ago, I haven't even made a dent in mine yet...oh good grief, I have 3 bags plus a pile that I am getting rid of so far...I will never use it...its going to mommy's house and what she doesn't want is going to the Senior Citizens Quilting group..
Don't be too hard on yourself. It's bound to be 'organised chaos' just like mine!!!
Absolutely, not only my sewing room Hubby's Shed also.....debatable who has the worst place....Arh schucks I'll say HIM.......
You are lucky it was only ONE tornado......try THREE. I find myself "hiding" the ironing in there as well these days. Lucky I can still close the door..... then it is tidy. heeheehee. Hugs Marg
My word, yes!!! Company's coming, I quickly grab things & put them in the sewing room & shut the door. never fails...someone wants to see what I'm working on! It is obivious it's NOT cleaning up the sewing room!
always ....and then I say before I sew another thing I will tidy it up first looks good for maybe one day ....and then that tornado passes by, I also have two kittens and everything that ends on the floor ends up in the lounge or all down the stairs ..Iv'e given up ....It might be messy but its my mess and I know where things are...x
My sewing room is such a .. no, not mess, but filled to overflowing. Even the thieves did not get my box with sewing money, as there was a stack of fabric in front of the drawer it is in!
O you are sooo not alone..mine always looks that way. I have tried and tried to clean it and keep it tidy without any success..my mind goes in ten directions at once it seems so I am constantly doing the "stitch and pitch" dance so my room looks like a storm has passed through it. I am trying to clean up after doing approx l8 costumes for a middle school play and with all the adjustments and alterations its just nuts in there..Best of luck to you in cleaning yours up!
I shouldn't laugh at your break in...but when you said they couldn't find your sewing money for the stuff, I had to laugh! I "hide" my stuff when I leave the house in a pile of stuff!! Guess even a thief doesn't want to brave a woman's sewing room!!
I too hid money and jewelry in my sewing room. They will have to go through 1000's of yards of fabric.....sometimes I have trouble finding it. LOL
Haven't even had the time to get into my sewing room except to do the ironing & that is often done over a few days, then there is a new lot to do.
I move that "All pictures of tidy sewing rooms be banned from now on!!!"
AlmaG.
What room -- take over the entire house! The holidays are coming! Lol!
Glad mine is not the only one. But I do not think anyone's sewing room could have looked worse than my dear late SIL's. I just do not know how she ever made all the lovely things she did. Or even found the way to her machines to do the sewing. Shirley
Oh, I do know how you feel. Mine was worse, but I didn't get a photo. I spent one whole evening, on my hands and knees sometimes, and even got a needle in my bare foot, and folded and sorted. What helped a whole lot was putting on a favorite old book to listen to while I cleaned. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, because I really do love all the fabrics. Anyway, about 5 hours later I had everything back in their little places! It's a good thing I have a tiny sewing room. Oh, I do love it when it's tidy! Now I can mess it up again....
That's what I like about sorting...you get to look at all the fabric up close and enjoy tem all over again
this is so funny. I spent yesterday sewing all day because i have today off from work. i told hubby i am playing today so i can clean tomorrow, leave me alone.. and my plan on cleaning? sewing room is first... lol....then if there is enough time and energy, the rest of the house...

Hmmm, I have noticed that I have a lot of "piles" stacked everywhere...not a good sign...
When you can't identify what the piles are for, then you are really in trouble!
tell me about it...I emptied a tote and found things from when I first started (unfinished) in 2006
My Mother always said making lists is okay, but lists of lists, not good. I'm a list person. P.S. To finish a lot of projects (hand or machine) list what needs finishing, and do the easiest one first. Put a big check by it or scratch through it, whichever pleases you the most. Then dig in on the next easiest item. Eventuallly, you'll find that you've checked them all off OR that you're sick of that list!
Yep. I'm a mess looking for a place to happen, and my own worse enemy. But you know the most famous picture of Einstein is the one of him with his hair looking like he stuck his finger in a light socket. We're all Einstein's ......LOL
YUP, yup yup. Thank God mine isn't the only one. So many different projects going on at the same time. I can't find anything!!
I have a very small room in the house we are living in now. It always looks like a tornado went through it. Even when it is straightened up, I cannot make it look neat. I just do my best and bide my time until we move back home next year.
oh that is so true...my laundry so is teeny and it is the hardest to keep clean
Am ashamed to say it but mine got out of control. My eldest Daughter came down from Brisbane and spent 3 yes 3 days to tidy and organise my sewing Shed. Its a joy to go out there now. Have been busy now that we found my machines. Ps... There is hope
Wouldn't that be a fun job, going all over the world helping people organize their sewing rooms?!??!!!!
Ladies sorry my Daughter is not for hire. Shes MINE for when i need rebooting :))
Pauline...for shame...we were all taught to share at an earlier age.....did you forget that golden rule about sharing?
your a very lucky lady Pauline , your sewing rooms looks fantastic , the before looks a lot like mine lol
Well, that must mean you've been very busy and a messy sewing room is a good sign that things are getting done! Love Chris
I tidy up one day and the next day is another storm, vicious cycle, really can't understand it. It is especially bad when I can't find anything and have to pull everything out to find it - one day I will be organised - HAHA
sorry Chris...posted the last on wrong comment....goes to show you how fubbled I am
