I see that some of you use grain. some rice. I use corn. At this time of the year it can be purchased for feeding deer and a large bag makes quite a few heating pillows. I use flannel for the bags which I leave plain but then decorate a removeable cover that can be washed when necessary.
As long as you don't heat it too long otherwise you might get popcorn! he he he! Love Chris
For the bigger one I also make a cover but these are just 5x5 and made as a quick little gift for some good customers ;o)
Chris that is what makes me wonder too: When does it make "pop" inside the heatpads with the corn *lol*
In the links down further there is a pic of all the different fillings we use here in Germany. you can see there how big the difference is in the size...
It is adorable! I hope you didn't use poly thread though in the microwave. I love the deer design, looks like you did an excellent job.
For those who need more information about the filling look in the post under the link (there is another link included in that post).
Please don't take spelt cause that can get too hot and burn (in contrast to the full grains).
Greetings, Bettina
LG Bettina
Great idea for the Farmer and Artisan Market Holiday Fair! I can use small fabric left overs and experiment with my new embroidery patterns! I use rice when I make them (but usually put it in an old sports sock for home use! LOL).
I really love this idea, what time of grain due you use?
