The latest news is the fire has done a a big arc and is now heading towards homes again , we have lost 193 homes and 93 damaged .We have an urgent request from our patchwork group for quilts ,to comfort those who have lost everything ,If you would like to help send me a PM .My son is now staying at the home to help protect it ,while our daughter is out feeding the fire fighters she said its like a war zone ,please pray for the people of Springwood and Winmalee.
Sending thoughts for safety for your family as they do their bit in the battle against the fires. I wish a good rain fall would just put out the fires.
Those poor people who have lost their homes..... each year, each season, if it's not floods, it's drought, not fires, it's storms, wreaking havoc. The disbelief and bewilderment in the sudden devastation we see on the faces of those who have lost everything is heartbreaking, and still the Aussie spirit shines through - standing in what they own, the young ones vowing to begin again, saying they built their dream homes once and they can do it again, the old ones knowing that they probably won't reach that point again, but thankful for their lives and the lives of their close ones.
There has been a call to those who can make quilts to make as many as we can to help the people, men, women and children of all ages and stages, who have lost everything. Yes, we can and will give donations but money can't buy the love that is stitched into a quilt and which warms and comforts a distressed person in a time of trauma. Just a thought.....

Thanks Girls ,yes husband I and our 2 little dogs are safe ,away from the fires , we are in Broken Hill and haven't been able to find out much ourselves because we have been out of phone rang ,our daughter Debbie has been amazing , walking to our house ,because the roads are closed ,last night to check out if we still had a home to come home to, so its not too bad for us , many neighbor's have last their homes. For some reason I had a little prayer before we left at 4,30 am yesterday and asked God to keep my home safe ,not knowing this was going to happen. We will need to replace out gutters and the roof on our back patio. My daughter rang a short while ago to say one of the HUGE trees in our front yard , was ablaze late last night from embers still hanging around, she is at our home now with an army of friends clearing anything that might be a problem
Thanks for all your prayers
Love
Monika

Monika thanks for popping in to let us know that all is "ok" Bless your daughter and her little army of friends
Oh! how wonderful that news is Monika. I'm so pleased that your daughter Debbie has been able to help out. I'm so thankful for all of our fire fighters, professionals and volunteers. They are trying so hard to keep our homes and livestock safe. I pray that the weather has some more rain for us soon. Love Chris
Fires were in the Wyong shire too ,shuting down highways etc .Pity the high school students doing their exams for the HSC.Earlier in the day a petrol store caught fire which didn't help matters. The smoke is everywhere the stars were hidden last night & smoke managed to get into the house even though all the windows & doors were shut had been shut. Glad that everyone is alright.
A fortnight ago we had a hail storm that left places looking like it had been snowing .This was the 3rd very hot windyday in a week.

So glad to read Monika and hubby are safe.
My Nephew in law, Andrew, is one of the chopper pilots fighting the fires, so I would appreciate prayers to keep him and all the fire-fighters safe from harm as they do battle for us. (Andrew and my niece Natalie are expecting their first baby on 25th October).
As for us here, we are less than 10 kms, (of all bushland), away from the Rutleys Rd fire, which is burning out of control, but it appears to be heading away from us.
Sadly, the areas of population here are very isolated making it difficult for fire-fighters to get in to them as they often have only one road access, and that usually carved out of and surrounded by bush.
Yesterday the fire-fighters actually had to run into the ocean and just watch helplessly as some 130 y.o. heritage homes burned to the ground.
It is really scary and all one can do is pray.
Add my caring thoughts to all the others, too.
I heard on the TV that the fire began at 1.30 p.m and by 4.30 p.m. it was out of control, schools had been closed and some homes had been destroyed. People, working or shopping, couldn't get back to see if they still a home. The recent high temperatures had made the vegetation tinder dry and it just freely ignited. The wind was so strong that the water from the helicopter was blown completely off-course away from the fire, but it did wet down the trees in the line of the fire. Meanwhile further down the east coast in Victoria's High Country I believe that snow had fallen down to about 600 metres.
Most of the rest of Australia seemed to be having high 'mid-summer' sweltering heat while down here in southern Sth Aussie we had fierce icy winds and heavy rain. The weather is making the undergrowth grow thick and fast and we are in for a fearsome summer.
The temperature maps make Australia look like The Red Continent already and it's still only mid-Spring!!

Alma just heard that we are to expect the same again Mon Tue. My Little sis lives at Bright and she is freezing as my Mum in East Gippsland.. What a diverse country we are .
To all the Aussie Cuties in the line of fire...prayers that all are safe and properties untouched by the fire...we have a lot of similar fires here in California and it is very scary!!!
These are some of the pics from the Blue Mtns fire where Monika lives.
#1 The sky seems to be burning a chilling feeling
#2 This is where Monika lives , somewhere in the smoke
#3 Our beautiful Sydney Harbour some 70/80klm from the fire, The wind is blowing the smoke out to sea.
Pray there be no lives lost so far.
Prayers and thought going to Monika - saw the horrendous bushfires on the news tonight. I've had a very busy day today. I do hope Monika and Trev's house has not been damaged and that they are safe and well. Love Chris
