I was just wondering something: I have been making burpies that have frayed edges for both gifts & an order, because they are frayed edges Should I be washing them first before I sent them out? Or would that make them look used? They are all flannelette with Warm & Natural batting inside

A lot of the things I make that are made of material that shrinks or frays. I wash the material before I do anything to it. I haven't had anyone say anything looks used. Sometimes material that is prewashed is easier to handle and work with.

These are so nice...I agree with attaching a note advising about the fraying of the borders...but if you do decide to wash, I would suggest a baby soap or a 'free' type detergent...not regular Tide....

I appreciate the comments & thanks to you all but should I be concerned about using Baby detergent to wash them? I use Tide & it may be harsh for a new baby? I will add the note as well. Thanks hugs & ***

I wash all my things before selling (especially baby things like bibs, burps, taggies). I don't want to leave the spray glue, etc. on them. No one has ever asked or said anything to me about it looking used. Adding the note would be a good idea too.

I always wash my raggy blankets before gifting them. And I love marianb's idea of adding a note. Hugs. Nan

they look great loralye, i also would put a small note in with them alerting them to the fact that the fraying when washed is part of the design. and let them wash it, as we all do with any thing new for baby..

Thanks so very much Marian. What about using baby soap? Is this something I should be doing too?

You might want to wash one as a sample to show people or add a note in with your orders that you washed them to remove any stabilizers. When I make things I let the people know that I had to wash it to remove any stabilizers or marking that I had to use to make the item. Nice burping cloth. Happy Stitching Brenda Lea

I agree that a note telling that the edges will fray and fluff when washed so not to worry about some extra lint in the dryer. they are very nice.
