An Interesting Pieced Felt Purse---

I saw this at my Viking dealer and I figured I could make it without a pattern. Well, I made it, but the harder way. I remembered something wrong and finally found something similar online (with knitted pieces) and figured out how. It would have taken much shorter time if I had a better understanding.

I used 6*6 (150*150) metalic quilting lines designs and used my metalic thread. Next time I'd use 4*4 designs as this is a little on the large side for everyday use.

It's wool felt on the outside and acrilic felt on the inside. There is one inside pocket. I not piece the lining--just used the pieced front as a pattern.

I used some decorative stitches for the handles.

There are 22 pieces altogether. They are pieced with wrong sides together as felt doesn't fray. It gives it an interesting look. It is a large project. Next time I won't embroidery so many pieces to save time

I am meeting Carolyn this Friday so I had to get it done. Her initials are CLB

I still have to finish Lily's duck costume before Thursday! I need 48 hours a day.

The pictures are not great and it's 2:48 am. These are as good as my photos gonna be for now. The colors are really off. The wool felt is dark grey

Sue mentioned "sweet sixteen" and I did a search. That might be my next project!

I added links to both "22 patch" and "16 patch" versions.

I love your version of this pattern and the designs you used.
I saw this type of bag for the first time in Bernina's "Through the Needle online" #10 and digitised a couple of squares along the lines they indicated, but only made pincushions and needle keepers , never went the whole way and made a bag. You inspired me to try and start one!

That is a lovely design! We all have so many designs that we've never stitched out and making this bag is a great opportunity for those designs to see daylight.

Great job on this gift 'babolucia' - I'd just warn the recipient that it's made from wool felt. I made something with wool felt once and decided to wet it and iron it just to make it look a bit better and I stuffed it up! I was very annoyed with myself! Love Chris

Thank you for the warning. I did steam a couple pieces briefly to get the fold marks out but I definitely should warn Carolyn not to wash it! It didn't occur to me before. This is actually the first time I've used wool felt.

This is lovely! I think it is called "sweet sixteen" if made in conventional patchwork.

Thank you for the information. I found a link for "sweet sixteen" and it's different than my bag. My bag is less trickier to piece but it has more pieces. The bag at the shop was probably "sweet sixteen" though.
