I am trying to make another pillow case & I am using directional fabric for the top casing piece can someone tell me if the design should be facing up or should it be facing down? This is the 9" pc that gets folded over everything so you only see half of it. I just can't seem to figure out which way to go & I want to do it right because this (as you can see) is all the fabric like this I have

Ahh, my friend, directional fabric, lol! Now the challenge begins. When I did my very first set, neither looked the same, the saying I put on the hem was upside down on one. On the second set, I got them both different. I was frustrated but I still had to laugh at myself. lol! The third set finally both were the same. I usually put a design either on the hem before I put it together or if it's a print I will do it on the case body a couple of inches or so above the hem.

I have found "feet to the fold" to be a great way to remember, the animals/creatures/people walk on the fold at the opening of the case. Feet to the fold comes out of my mouth, literally, every time I make a directional print or embroidery on the cuff!

I do what Gerry mentioned to place the design as in your bottom picture.

I was told when there's a print..as in the animal print..they should be facing toward the opening of the case. Don't know why. But they do seem to look better that way.
