By free motion quilting you mean on your normal sewing machine with the feed digs down, or a plate over them?In that case you don't have to slow down. it can be done quite fast.Your problem sounds like tension.Make sure you have your machine threaded properly and that the bobbin is in correctly, Your tension should be between 4 and 5.I have done a lot of free hand quilting,in fact I rather like doing it .You can make the quilting lines where ever you want to.Also stipple if you want.

OOOPS!That is feed DOGS not digs.There is one rule-SLOW FOOT,FAST HANDS= SMALL STITCHES.FAST FOOT-SLOW HANDS=BIGGER STITCHES.

I have a Viking also. Usually when that happens, for some reason the UPPER thread has come out of that little "hook thing" in that slit! You can miss that happening as it's sorta hard to see a thin piece of thread! So just rethread. As others have said, slow down a bit. Also, I slow the machine down, then hit start and it sews at a more even pace. Tap the foot petal and it will stop so you don't need to use your hand to stop it.

Janome have now bought out a special bobbin holder for the 6500, 6600 & the 11000 just for free motion quilting, maybe you could check with Husqvarna.

I have Janome but a jam is a jam whatever the machine. All I can suggest is check the tension and/or slow it down a bit.

Have u tried slowing everything down? I do not have a Husqvarner but when my thread started nesting my dealer had me to slow stitching down & it worked.I know how frustrating this can be & I wound up ruining a few things & having to patch. *4U
