Hi, I found a link to this website through the last 5 hours of digging around on the web. I'm trying to find a way to get started with an embroidery machine. Specifically, a Singer Quantum XL-1000. Past the basic threading and hoop attachment. Im lost. I inherited the machine from my mom when she passed. I have an owners manual, but it's not doing me a lot of good. I tried to go to youtube and there wasnt really anything about this machine there.Does anyone know of a website or place i can find tutorial info on how to use the machine or get into software/hardware that can allow me to really use the machine? In the box of stuff I brought from my mom's, there was a white box with sewware written on it and a magic box (I think wtas what it was called) and a large amount of disks and cables. but nothing in the way of paper work or manuals about any of it or what it did. Im sorry for the long post, but if anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it! thanks, karen

Welcome to Cute. If your mom has a computer you may find what you are looking for on her computer and might be able to transfer it to your computer. Keep checking back to your post as there are cuties from around the world in different time zones that can help.

Hi Karen - I can't help you but I do hope you've had lots of help from the answers here. What a great inheritance you've been granted. When you find your sea-legs, and it won't be long because if you need help this is the first place to seek help, you'll be sailing away on the Machine Embroidery ship and joining us on our creative fun journey.
Good luck. Everyone began at the beginning.... trust me.... (it took me three years to pluck up the courage to even open the brand new embroidery unit box) ... and then, suddenly, we all began to blossom as embroiderers.
AlmaG.

Hi Karen, I am afraid that I cannot help you with your machine but I have to tell you that you have found the best place to be. There are various embroidery sites that have tutorials and these can be a great help. Where do you live - as that perhaps would help.
Welcome to this wonderful site. Sarah (South Africa)

Where do you live? I live in Hope Mills, NC, USA. I have a singer xl6000 and I bet they are similar. I use sewware that came with the machine. It works on xp. vista, and windows 7. But works better on xp. I do not have magic box.

Welcome to Cute, not much help with your machine, did you try to search for the manual on the singer site? Just an idea, worked for me with my Brother some time ago. Hope a Cutie comes to the rescue.

Welcome, Karen. I don't know your machine, but I have a Magic Box and would be glad to send you the manual / PDF via email...and instructions on installing. There is no tech support for it anymore, and you need WinXP to run it (I don't know of Win7). But it transfers designs to a card that then goes into the machine. If I can help, pm me.

Welcome - do not despair. I do not know about your particular machine but someone will be able to help. I'm in UK by the way, if that helps.

I you could tell us where you live there maybe someone close by who can help you out. We have an international group of women and men on Cute and there is someone on here 24/7. I hope we can help you out so you can start to do some of the wonderful machine embroidery designs that there are.

We have one lady on here called 'rescuer' and she may be able to help you.

I'm in Australia and it's only 7.30pm Eastern Standard time, so if you are from Europe or America it will be very early in the morning Love Chris

Sorry I see that you already have a manual. You might also have a look at Yahoo for the sewing machine, there may be someone on there who can help you out too. If you wait a while on here there is bound to be someone who has the same machine as yours and will help you out. This is a very helpful group. Love Chris

The Singer Futura Yahoo group has been very helpful for me. there is also a Facebook group for futuras that has answers to problems posted, and people share links to free designs. Hope this is helpful

I have the manual to my machine. I cant find software for the sew ware box or the magic box. I have the little white card ( actually a couple) that have the box logo's on them and from putting them in the machine and accessing the folder they still have patterns on them. I spent the night reading the manual again. I managed to make a pattern that was pre-stored on the machine and even do a color change. yipee, But im stuck at plotting x.y. points for multihoop embroidery.I checked singer's website, but it seems to get the software for the sewware box, requires a complete new purchase of the entire system. But i am going to call them today to verify that. And I also found the manual to the seware box, so if i get the software, ill try to figure that out too
