Dear Cuties,

We as your friends and Moderators for this site (jrob, mops, marjialexa, rescuer), would like to ask for help from all of you. Please help us protect this great site. We need to avoid links to sites that give or sell illegal designs. If you see a link posted here on Cute to a site with illegal designs, please report the post to the moderators. We can then ask the user to edit the post or in some cases remove the post. We are hoping it will help prevent hurt feelings and we can help protect this site as well as Cuties and their computers.

Try to remember that most sites with illegal designs will also have "free" viruses and trojans or malware included in your free design download. Even if your anti-virus does not warn you -- they can still be there.

Thanks for all your help. This is a wonderful community!

I hope this helps.

TU, appreciate the tactful handling of the situation; now, all we need to do is signal the moderators when we come across any links to suspect designs.

Thank you for the wonderful work you do to protect us. I think it would be helpful to have a list of the sites deemed unacceptable that we could refer to before posting a link. I realize that new ones will pop up, but they could be added to the list as well. Would such a list be possible?

Possible but very difficult for the reasons you mentioned and some others. We don't have a way right now of keeping that list someplace handy.
It might help you know a bad site...if they give away Hello Kitty, Disney, Movie Characters, sports team logos...any thing else recognizable -- avoid the site.

Sometimes, when I go deep into a site that has been recommended from here, I mean really far back, I may find a design that looks a whole lot like a Disney, or a Hello Kitty. Are you referring to those sites? If that is the case, then should we report them to the moderators, or to the group? Because I know one that we often see referred has those.

Thanks for asking this question.
We think it is best if you send a link of the current post to all the moderators and then (hopefully) we won't have hurt feelings in the community. If many people are still linking to the same site, the moderators can make a general announcement and then none of you have to be "the bad guy" no one gets berated on the Open Forum and we can have a peaceful site.
We are just trying very hard to help keep Cute a happy, peaceful, and legal place to be.

Thanks for your help marron1.

I will confirm that favorite site still has up the illegal, licensed design, and if it is still there, I'll let you know. How does that sound? Maybe they have removed them!

Hey Ya'll - GOOD GOOD News! I went through every single page on that wonderful site - and those designs I saw there earlier - are GONE! They must have realized they shouldn't be there and taken them down! I don't have to do anything!!! YEAH!!!

Thank you for the reminder. Sometimes we are not aware that the design is illegal, just remember that anything we see that normally has a trademark are usually illegal if they do not come from the original designer. Yes, sometime there may be one, but they will not be free. The individual that is posting it has had to purchase the right to use the design and it doesn't come cheap.
Thanks, MS V. for all the hard work and gracious giving of your time so that we might have a site that we may use,

You have my support. I think it is a wise decision. I hope all will understand the seriousness of this issue.

We all need to be diligent here...we have had problems with digitizers posting designs that did not comply with the site rules and we as well as Miss V are suffering the consequences...we have lost access to DBC for the time being...if we are not diligent, we may lose other posting privileges...and lest we not forget, these are privileges we enjoy daily. It may be that you post something that you are not aware is a problem...that is why all of us need to let our moderators know if we suspect that there may be a problem...before it becomes a big problem...I am with you "rescuer" and all of the other moderators who are responsible to keep our site healthy, safe, and legal...believe me, it is not an easy job...and remember they are there to help us and protect us...we need to have their backs...
