I got the idea when I started playing with my 5D embroidery software. I updated to a 6D and it was easier to maneuver around in the program. I had bought a set from Oma's place which is a oval shape and decided to try my hand in digitizing. I am going to put the coaster designs on Etsy.com ones I get all the various patterns finished. I want to make sure they are quality designs and create instructions that are easy to follow. I have an assembly line going at the moment. I cut out all my backing for the 4 by 4 hoop to 8 by 8 inches. The main background and center as well as the top layer that finishes the coaster. I cut two 6 by 6 squares of main color one 5 by 5 for center. One of the main fabrics I cut in half with pinking shears and use fray check on the edge before attaching it to the coaster. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to sew one.
I forgot to mention on mine I cut a piece of a cheap thin shower curtain from the dollar store and lay it over the batting before adding the main piece of fabric. Waterproofing just a little.
These are lovely! Great idea for a Christmas gift! I'm sure they will love them!
