This is for our nephew who is expecting a baby in Feb. The animals are from various places & mostly freebies. The whole quilt is done with 3 layers flannelette sewn & then cut all the way around each & every edge. The girls today all love the baby rag quilts so since she asked me ever so nicely if I would make them one here it is. Each block when finished measures 8 inches when sewn altogether it measures just under 38 inches square. It then becomes a great plaything when baby is on the floor & because it is 3 layers thick it is comfortable to lay on when having floor time too. I will add the name date & weight & birth to the lower left hand square after the new guy arrives. I will give it another wash before I send it off just to get a bit more fluff. the more it is washed the fluffier it will get.

Nice job Loralye, I find the Softouch scissors by Fiskars a great help for the fringe .... still a long process but easier on the hands ... Hugs Glenda x0x0x

I think I've found the secret to you Canadian girls and how you get so much done, It's how you stay warm. Another great project ,keep them coming and I better get busy so I can catch up (like that's going to happen) lol

beautiful. And yes the worst part is the snipping. Very hard on the fingers. I believe there is a special tool to do it now. Perhaps someone will know.

Yes, Friskars makes a cushion grip small snipping scissor .

Yep that is what I used but there are a lot of blocks & it is easier because you don't put your fingers into any holes but it is all that exact on the line cutting to make all the fringes even. I think the cutting takes longer then any thing else. I always leave the cutting till the end but next time (UGH) I should cut each block as I go along then it might not be so bad?

In our area we call these rag quilts. You have done nice work. The embroidery adds a lot of interest.

This is really cute Loralye. I need to make a couple for our new additions and was only talking about it with Trevor on our early morning walk. I will make them in the new year though. Love Chris

Make sure you get a brand new pair of scissors to cut the edges with, it will make life easier for your fingers. Thanks so much, Hugs
