This will be the 2nd day in a row that temp is over 100 degrees F. My pansies are all dried up and my grass is looking bad. We, here in Georgia are still on water restrictions. I water tomatoes.

I'm also in florida and it's so dry. I don't water my lawn, mother nature does, but I think she's on vacation right now. I do have a pool but unlike most people it is not screen in (I don't like to feel like i'm swimming inside) anyway my water temp is up to 90 so when you jump in you can't tell the difference between the air and the water, in a few weeks the humidity will match the wetness of the pool so I think I'll just sew. Hubby is a jazz organist and I'm busy making him equipment covers with embroidered musical symbols on em. So far so good. Take care and keep cool ladies.

I can remember when i was little there was a couple of time when there was no water and e had to fill our bath with water and we had to live on that water for a week or more that included washing. We have had drouts here for a few years now and a lot of people have been connecting there washing machines to longer hoses and running it on the lawns and gardens can't use it on vegies either so i bargain my water i shower over a lardg tub and the water caught in the tub i use to flush the loo so the water used to flush is 2 buckets then i use 2 buckets of tap water for veg.

My daughter places buckets in the shower and uses the water caught to water her flowers.

Hot and dry in Central Florida too. We saw 105.5 here last week. Our lake bed needs to be mowed, but has no water. The lawns are brown, and even the weeds are drying up. Stay as cool as you can. And we don't really have the first day of summer yet! Thanks goodness for the AC.

Hope the rain comes our way also. A lot of these rains are so isolated.

My sweetie has a spring on his property and can water all he wants. We have had so little rain, I don't know if a rain barrel would help.

What I wouldn't give for some of your heat. It's 50 and raining for the 4th day in a row. I have water to spare so when would you like me to send it on your way? I am also going to have a bumper crop of tomatoes which I'm willing to share.

At least you bothered....I didn't even put out any tomatoes this year. I guess I'll be going to the fruit stand a couple of times a week, because I simply CAN NOT live without my tomatoes and last year mine just got hard and layed down and quit.

PS come on up to the north end to my neck of the woods, it's only 95 degrees here.

katydid by katydid 09 Jun 2008

What a few miles north will make. I lost most of what I planted last also, but I always try with tomatoes and bell peppers. I even carried out grey water last year as we had a total outdoor ban in Walton county, but Sonny said no county could restrict more than the state wide ban which will allow to water with a hand held hose, no sprinklers though. Maybe you can water you roses some. My "knock out" roses, don't look to bad. I planted them last year and they are not established too well yet.

Cuties, maybe we can everyone to pray for rain for those of us in the drought areas.
